I wash mine whenever I wash a load of clothes, which is 2-3 times a week. I never find anything I really like at fancy stores, even when I get fitted right, so I tend to stick with cheap Hanes underwires from Wallyworld, so they last me about 6 months or so.

All must be hand-washed. Sports bra -- which cost me close to 65 dollars -- gets a hand-wash after every use.
The others -- every couple of wears.
That's the advice from the bra shop, which fitted me for this fifty dollars a pop bras.
My tits...feel SPECTACULAR.

Wash: Cold, gentle cycle, bras hooked closed
Dry: Hang 4 to a hanger, dangling from the rack above the dyer - they get the warmth and dry fast without direct heat to them.
Underwire pops out: Inconspicuously sew it back up with needle/thread OR take a hot glue gun to it very gently. I have a VS bra that still lives, 2 years after I hot glued the underwire back in. (Never put them in the dryer after hot gluing)

Thanks Jezebel, for making me less of a stinky hermit.

It's so much work, and I'm lazy, and my old (male) roommates got way weirded out by my bras hanging all over.

I wash 'em in the mesh laundry bag on cold, hang 'em to dry and they still have well shaped cups & straps, even after 4 years.

And I named my dog after the Second Lord Malmesbury
(true story - he's a labrador)

It took me a while to realise that in a cold country in winter, I can let a bra go two wears (maybe even three) without washing (but I usually won't wear the same bra two days in a row). So I'm looking at washing maybe once every four or five weeks. And I just toss my bras in the machine -- I don't even use a lingerie bag. My Marks and Spencers undies have stood up well to this sort of treatment, but the La Senza ones start to fall apart (seams coming open, wires poking out, etc.) quite quickly.
