    I really hate to see this kind of stuff because it perpetuates the "angry scorned black woman" stereotype.

    Divorce is always an option. Leave with your dignity.

    @kookla: Sometimes I feel like people act like this when they're breaking up because think that's how it's supposed to go. That a break-up isn't a break-up unless there's screaming, crying, etc.

    I noticed that when I and another friend went through big break-ups last year and we both were determined to do it in a dignified, peaceful way. That fact that we wouldn't engage in this kind of behavior was strange to a lot of our other friends.

    @AboutToLaugh is longwinded: I think that people sometimes make it ugly because it makes it easier for them to walk away from a relationship if they hate that person.

    I've never destroyed any property even though I've been plenty hopping mad at times. Well, I should say, I've never destroyed any property I felt the guy would care about.

    Worst thing I've done--I went over to an ex's house (I was still friends with his roomie, who knew I wouldn't do anything really bad), got all my stuff, left a bunch of his, and then took a framed photo I had given him of the two of us together, took the photo out, cut myself out, put it back in the frame, and replaced it on his dresser.

    This episode was really sad. I felt bad for her husband, who clearly cared about her, and for their kids.

    The other relationship was just an emotionally abusive mess. The guy didn't want her, but he didn't want anyone else to have her, either.
