Jesus christo, did anyone else notice that the princesses' waists are practically non existent. That shit is frightening.

To be fair, I enjoy the Sims precisely for that option of pointless torture...

@Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: After a particularly bad break-up, I had great fun making a Sim that looked like the ex and sticking it in a doorless room with an oven.

All the Disney princesses have been updated to some degree or another. When you're designing products for the express purpose of marketing, that happens. Some people are acting like Disney gave Snow White Pam Andersson boobs and a pole to dance with. I dunno, I don't find it offensive.

What I want is Georgette merchandise, goddamnit! Perfect isn't easy, but it's her.

@musicpup is mad as a sack of badgers: I don't get the bitching about Tinkerbell. If you watch the original movie they actually point out her curvy hips and round butt at least twice (once when she's standing on a mirror in Wendy and the boys' room and once when her hips get her stuck somewhere while she's trying to escape) and her costume was always skimming her butt.

What I'd really like to see is if they kept some the princesses more unique body shapes. Mulan was slender without much of a figure, Pocahantas had a broad upper body but more narrow hips, Ariel was a bit more pear-shaped etc. I haven't taken a hard look at them for a while, but I hope that's still the case.

@RustyHeadedGirl: One of my favorite characters, Kida (Atlantis) is also pear-shaped. And one of the supporting characters, Audrey, always wears totally shapeless clothing because she's a mechanic. Sadly, I doubt we'll ever see merchandise for those two. Esmeralda had a pretty traditional hour-glass figure but she was a sexpot. I think they can't get away with changing their body shapes too much because it's also part of the costume.

My middle daughter totally LOVED Ursulla in The Little Mermaid!!! She was like 2 yrs. old and ran around talking about the "sea vitch". I thought it was really funny that she rejected Ariel, and when we visited Disney a couple of years ago, we loved the Villan Store!

I think Snow White has just been updated. Its not like she's gotten all busty and porno lipped.

But the tiny Japanese girlfriend thing is one of the most screwed up things I've ever seen. And I shouldn't have read the Gizomonod comments.

@clevernamehere: It seemed that a number of the Gizmodo folks felt the same way, though. Reaffirms my notion that "absolute (computing) power, corrupts anonymously."

Really, Japan? - poking at a little person who screams at you to stop, yeesh... That's more diabolical than walling in your Sims and setting their hair on fire.

why doesn't Disney capitalize on its trove of female villains like it has with its princesses?

Erm... 'cuz they're villains? I mean, you don't see them selling Judge Claude Frollo bedsheets or anything, do you?

But it's really that she doesn't look human. She looks...molded.

I'm old, so I've never seen the movie, because Disney didn't happen to re-release it during my Wonder years, but I've seen clips, and I know they did a lot of rotoscoping on that movie, so to see her looking so plastic is somewhat disturbing.
