What the fuck is it about a size 2 that people want to BE it so badly? Why not go all the way and be a zero, if thats how you are going to be. Is it because its the last number before the non-size?

I think its an unwritten code that 'stars' subtract at least one number size before they talk about clothes.

in the context of what you posted, of course it's true, but kk's response just shows how much sizes do mean. all us magazine did was use a picture of her next to an ad for forever 21's plus size line.

if sizes don't mean anything, then why would she bother to respond? a random photo does not a plus-size clothing ad make.

either that, or she's just pissed that she didn't get paid for kinda sorta not being in the ad in the first place.

Years ago when I worked retail there was a brand of highly coveted jeans that the designer made by using her SELF as a fit model. So if she gained or lost weight the sizes changed. The market for these jeans were generally rich teens or body conscious twenty-thirty somethings which meant that when the jeans changed I periodically had customers in full blown crisis in dressing floors. It didn't help that the designer was TEENY TINY. Meaning that the zero was sometimes more along the lines of "get thee to the hospital". That meant that a 4 or 6 was a normal persons 0. I was a 2 at the time and had jeans from that line in a 0 to a 12 in my closet that fit. It was a nightmare.

I know Kim K goes to the gym (because she uses her workout gear as a photo-op), but she's also admitted to quite a bit of lipo. I'm not sure this "working hard" thing means what she thinks it does.

I can't believe people are arguing about what size she actually is! I would reply with this in a thread doing so, but I can't. This is absurd. She's a size 2! No, she's a size 8! She's short, so sizes look smaller on her! Something about Marilyn Monroe! Seriously?

I agree. We don't know her size, and 1. her size is actually none of our business and b. knowledge of her actual size WOULDN'T ADD ANYTHING TO ANY CONVERSATION OF ANY IMPORT!

But did you know that Monroe was a 14? And that's a size Elebenity Million in today's system? But it's a 2 in England. Or was. During the war.

Excuse me, but the end of Ms. Kardashian's quote was that she's a size 2. WTF. Not only is that not true (because as a petite woman with curves, size 2's are made for petite women without curves) but it goes against everything she just said.

Kim is tiny! Just because she has a chest and a butt doesn't mean she is plus sized. There are women who are plus sized and not curvy and vice versa.

And yes from my brief foray into Internet dating in L.A. apparently curvy is code for plus sized. Folks are crazy.

I said this before but it drove me nuts how J.Lo was considered a "big girl". I saw her at a premiere. Why she does have a butt at most she was a 4 then. Russell Crowe and other male actors can be whatever size they want but god forbid an actress is over a size 2.

Do people not realize the avg. size in America is a 14?

And thus another euphemism, meant to take the sting out of an insult, bites the dust. See: full-figured, husky, pleasantly plump, zaftig, Rubenesque. Etc. I await the demise of "Joan," as well.

Perhaps we could just stop insulting people (and by "people" I mean "women") based on their size? Perhaps we could simply value people (and by "people" I mean "women who don't meet precisely a particular, arbitrary set of criteria for what constitutes being physically attractive")?

You know what I've decided? Clearly all women in Hollywood are too short. Otherwise they wouldn't be proportioned in such a way that we could actually have these debates about "she looks like she couldn't fit into x thing!" vs. "she actually wears a size 2!".

As such, I'm going to start a new campaign against Hollywood's hegemony of the short. Tall women can act, too, Hollywood! I'm 5'8'' and I was in acting class in high school!

I don't know why I'm not annoyed by Kim's comment. It's probably got something to do with the fact that she's not plus-sized, and that it is fucked if you think it is.

Anyhoo, let's not turn this entire thread into size comparisons. As much as I love knowing everyone's measurements, it's not needed.
