If it were anyone but Alan Cumming saying that I'd be grossed out. As it is, he's kind of like a wacky uncle who says crazy shit, but who is completely adorable anyway, and all I can say is "Oh, Alan". XD
can we discuss how yet again an old white man has been chosen to perform at the super bowl? how many years in a row has it been now since the whole boobgate debacle?
Maybe I am bat-shit crazy but I don't get why Evan Rachel Wood is being so so vigorous in her denials of a clinch with rourke. Apart from thinking that the lady doth protest too much I think he's kind of awesome. I mean, you know, I think I would. I wouldn't ever want to get in the way of him making it with Bai Ling but there's something so beaten up about him that is - worryingly- alluring for me. Christ. I did just admit that.
Crohn's disease is no joke, but I don't know what Mike McCready thinks the WA lawmakers are gonna do about it -- install special Porta-Potties just for people with GI issues?
There's this huge billboard in Times Square promoting Kanye's new album. On it, he's surrounded by sad cartoons and a sad sad distorted Valentine's heart is kind of twirling around him and he has the saddest sad old man glasses and he's wearing the saddest sad grey clothes. The sad glasses make his sad eyes look super, super shiny anime-huge and sad. Kanye is so sad. It's a wonder he can muster up enough energy to break Macbook Airs and talk about being a nuclear power in all his sadness.
As a loose rule, I don't go to reunion shows. But, Jane's Addiction concerts are among the high-lights of my youth. Maybe I'll try to win tickets off the radio. Because you know that shit won't be cheap. They'll have to outdo previous tours: stadiums filled with lights, tight-ropes, and of course contortionist strippers.
@crampyscamp: i'm all reunion-concerted out. it always bums me out when not only are the tickets for these reunion shows insanely overpriced, but so is the merchandise and only takes cash for payment. nice way for the band to make their dollars and dodge the tax man.
All this Slumdog Millionaire back and forth is making my head spin. Then I had a moment of clarity. If someone made a movie that was surrounded with buzz all around the world and everyone was watching and talking about it about Canada... well, there'd be a bunch of people saying it was an awesome thing and a bunch of people saying it was a terrible thing. I don't mean to belittle the actual struggles of those Indians living in poverty, but this thought helped me put it in perspective. And let me remind myself: it's okay to like the movie, even if some people are angry. It's a beautiful story, and THAT is the point of movies - storytelling.
Also the Slumdog stuff is the curse of being the Oscar front runner and probably means that the one nominated film I truly loathe, Benjamin Button, will win best pic. On the other hand I will win money if this happens but it will still piss me off.
Kudos to Renee Zellweger for not letting the Inauguration hoopla go to her head. I still feel bad for all those people who had tickets who could not get to their seats.
Evan Rachel Wood needs to grow a thicker skin and stfu.
I saw an interview with M.I.A. on Tavis Smiley. Absolutely the most adorable thing ever, she is, and that baby is going to be gorgeous. So ridiculously creative, so ridiculously talented, so deserving of every microbe of praise she receives...
