New York Finds That Lady Lushes Drink The Same Way Dudes Do
Booze & Boobs: We're So Confused

Look, I am not one to say drinking ain't fun, and even if you occassionally abuse the crap out of it it doesn't mean your an alkie. But honey, it ain't because you are a feminist. People drink, they always have. It's either because there are more studies going on OR because as woman, some thing have gotten tougher lately - bad economy and everyone running around getting their physical imperfections fixed.

Studies point to a healthy intake - this was mentioned earlier in the thread. Everyone is a little different in how they deal with substances, but the parameters described by the studies should serve as an indicator that you could be approaching a problem.
I too quit drinking, and might consider myself, for lack of a more descriptive definition, a binge-alcoholic. My problem has never been drinking too frequently, but drinking too much, infrequently. A DUI solved that for me. It lost me a promotion, cost me a crapload of money, caused me humiliation and grief that I couldn't have imagined, not to mention that I could have killed someone.
I went from being the guy in high school that would down a 12-pack in a night, to the guy in college that could drink a case over the course of a day, to the guy who'd work hard and play hard and have six or seven pints of Scottish Ale and 5 Micheal Collins' (rocks) - or if times were tight, 16 PBRs and a few shots of Jim Beam.
Hell yeah, it was excessive. I wasn't drinking to stave off depression, so I deserved to keep the party going when I was having fun, right?
Add up the money and the time that your drinking patterns cost you - you may be surprised. And what you think of as "letting-off steam" might be a way of avoiding dealing with things that you should, including the good stuff.

Hmm, my boyfriend isn't into drinking much, either. I enjoy the taste of what I drink but don't really drink to get druck.

This sad, disgusting realization has made me not drink much anymore. One, maybe two, a month. I get the concept, but I'm not exactly thrilled at this article.

I usually drink two glasses of wine a night. I steadfastly refuse to consider that binge drinking.

I always promise to "Never drink this much again". But that is like a new years resolution. It only lasts about a month.

Have a bottle of wine before you leave the house for about £4, be drunk enough to require one drink in the bar (also known as so drunk men will buy you more drinks for kicks) and there's a night out with change from a £10 note. Tricky to do that when you go for dinner or a movie.
Then I got so skint even really cheap booze is out of my price range most of the time!
