    Perhaps Cate is so fed up with always having to be the immaculate style icon, that she decided to destroy her image once and for all. If so, she’s succeeded. From now on, whenever she appears on the best dressed list a photo of this truly awful outfit will appear alongside it and we will all have another giggle. The Virgin Queen’s New Clothes indeed!

    @BAngieB: You know, I was thinking there was something wrong with me, because I object more strongly to the open-toed shoes worn with tights than to the crochet-squares dress. Maybe I'm just seeing beyond the flea-market monstrosity to the luminous Cate underneath??

    OMG- my Grandma B is in heaven peeing herself with joy over this dress. She had 24 grandkids and we ALL have a patchwork afghan.

    I cannot be objective with Ms. Blanchett. I do not care that she apparently broke into my Nana's nursing home while she was asleep (my Nana, presumably, unless Cate has some really advanced somnambulism going on) and stole one of nana's highly prized hand crocheted blankets and cut it apart, fashioned it into a dress, and glued on felt. She is so wonderful that I think this is absolutely wonderful, despite the fact that a) I would laugh so hard at anyone else wearing this and b) I should probably call my nana and see if she is ok, as blanket thievery would be pretty harrowing to her.
