I've always had a theory that every three cycles a black girl wins ANTM no matter what. It's probably rude to assume its based on race, but looking back:

Cycle 3-Eva

Cycle 6- Danielle

Cycle 9-Saleisha

Cycle 12- Teyona ('cause she's getting a winner's edit)

I came up with it after Saleisha wrongfully won that cycle. And if Teyona does win, it'll be set in stone in my mind.(not that she isn't good though)

@prettycool: I actually read about a more complex pattern, which is: every 4 cycles there are 2 European destinations with white winners, an Asian destination with a black winner, and an other destination with an "other" winner (Naima, Jaslene).

Which has me completely convinced that Fo will take it. Or Teyona (this pattern is probably coincidence, but either way I know that they aren't going to have 3 white winners in a row).

How do you like your sour grapes, Natalie?

Aminat and Natalie both had bad pictures, but Natalie has more bad pictures overall; you can see it in the ending montage. She even has the exact same expression on her face, complete with the one raised eyebrow. She also did badly at the challenge. As far as her looking like a model, sure, she looks like a commercial model. She does not have the body for runway.

Is she really afraid that people will think she said all those rude and condescending things all at once in that montage? Of course they edited that together. She gave them enough material for the montage, plus more stank comments in almost every episode. And the other girls were talking about her bad attitude, too. I don't buy that it was fabricated.

Also, she is accusing Tyra of discriminating against her because of her race. She should just take responsibility for that opinion and not try to have it both ways.

I really, really, really, hate pulling the race card here...but I do think Tyra has a certain favoritism towards the black models...though it may be subconcious. I mean Aminat and Teyona are NOT good models...and yet...

I can't believe Naima beat Kahlen. Kahlen looked like Carmen Kass! When you look like an already established supermodel, and can take good-to-great pictures, then you should win!

Really though, this is a television show. It's not a contest based on talent, it's a reality show contest based on entertainment values. Yes, there is a prize at the end - but it isn't won by the best model or most deserving girl, it's won by the one who somehow makes it to the end and gets chosen by the producers. People don't watch the show to watch girls learn how to model, they watch it for the ridiculous factor and the cool pictures, and it really surprises me that the girls auditioning for it don't realize that.

She's the producer of a TV show, she's going to do what gets her ratings. Ridiculousness and drama in ANTM . . . gets ratings. It doesn't seem like much of a surprise to me that - shocker - she makes choices in front of a camera and that may not be the same way she is when the camera is off!

And I could be accused of acting racist-y for saying this, but I swear I'm not trying to be, but it seems that every single cycle there is a black girl who makes it to the final four or three who is kept for an inexplicably long time and really has no business being there, and I've always thought what Natalie said- that Tyra relates to being young, black, and struggling, and not cut any breaks, so she cuts them a few breaks. However, they never win. Except Danielle won, but that's because she straight up rocked.

Examples: Bianca, Keenya, Eugenia.

@morninggloria: Well Keenyah and Eugenia are working models, and Eugenia's doing runway. I don't know if Bianca is working currently or not, but she was actually doing well in the competition. I thought she deserved her spot, even if she had a stank personality.

As far as there always being a black girl who doesn't deserve to stay, that's likely to happen when the show starts with a higher proportion of black girls than you would normally see on television. Every season there's a white girl or two who inexplicably gets promoted along, and often ends up in the top 3 or 4, too. But no one would look at that as favoritism.

@afiunderground: word. And in this industry, where a brown girl is lucky to even be considered for a shoot outside of commercial/catalog work, it really does not bother me. Tyra of all people would know this, so it makes a lot of sense that she would want to keep a girl of color or two around for a bit longer. It's her show.

@stoprobbers: Really? I think Fo is one of the more interesting, fresh and "fierce" faces out of the bunch. She is short compared to the rest of the contestants, but in general I think all those girls are tall - there is a minimum height requirement to get onto ANTM.

Fo is miles away from "fierce," not that I care about fierceness. Her freckles are nice, but she bores me to tears. Pictures of her bore me to tears. If I was flipping through a magazine, no way she'd make me stop.

I don't doubt that Tyra plays favorites and is hella shady, but while Natalie is very pretty girl she doesn't truly have a model look. A lot of models come into my office for castings and I can't see someone booking her for editorial or runway.

On one hand, I can agree that Tyra's feelings towards the girls are not particularly hidden, and probably affect the outcome of the show. But on the other hand, if Tyra sent home people she because didn't like them, I think Celia would have been out weeks ago.

But yeah, I agree that the judging probably is probably not the most objective.
