    Okay, I'm going to say something that I know is completely ridiculous, but still: Given the situation he described, where it's a sperm donor (or donors) that you know and are friends/comfortable with and there are no apparent fertility issues, would anybody else try the ol' squish the contents of a used condom out and see if it takes route? I mean, aren't IUI and IVF really really expensive? Would anyone else be tempted to go the cheapo DIY artificial insemination first, or am I just disgusting? #jalexanderfather

    I know it's ridiculous, but I read on some completely non-reputable website that he was actually straight and his flamboyant persona was just that- a persona he adopted for work and publicity.

    I scratched my head for a long time on that one, because I knew it had to be wrong, but also I could believe it . . .

    @Meglantine: My dislike of Jay stems far beyond his rudeness. When watching a rare Cycle 1 rerun-athon, it became patently clear that a once down-to-earth, straight shooting, albeit flamboyant man had opted to play up his camp season after season for maximum obnoxiousness. And for no other discernible reason than good, old-fashioned famewhoring. Boo. #jalexanderfather

    @doit2julia: I think it's possible that he was playing down his natural persona in the first season because I'm sure no one was sure how a person like him would play on national tv. As it's become more obvious that the show's audience isn't put off by him, perhaps the real Miss J has simply emerged more? Things have changed a decent bit for gay acceptance in pop culture even since ANTM started, so I wouldn't blame Miss J just yet. #jalexanderfather

    In other TV news, has anyone else been plagued by those Idaho Potatoes commercials? I seldom watch daytime TV but I was sick so today was an exception. Anyway, there are these crazy commercials stressing the health benefits of Idaho potatoes ("not just any potatoes!") with this really raspy-voiced lady who pronounces Idaho like "eye-ho" and it drove me nuts (it could also be my cold). She also claims that "exercise and a diet with potatoes" help you to stay trim, which is true in some contexts but it nonetheless made me laugh because I can totally see somebody going to a grocery store, looking at potatoes, and remembering, "oh yeah, potatoes help you lose weight!" #tyrafaketoenails

    I worked at a tanning salon in high school (ooooh the stories) and knew a couple girls that came in who had acrylics on their toenails, but never as long and gaudy as that. I'm not sure the reasoning behind it, as I was always too weirded out to ask. #tyrafaketoenails

    I almost want to defend the place, but then I remember, I got the fuck out of Alaska. I don't need to defend it.

    Still, I hate the representation Alaskans have been getting. Yes, we have a lot of braindead morons, I'm sure you are aware of a few. But we're not all unbathed rednecks eating pancakes & beer in lodges with dead animals on the walls all the time.

    Not to put down the people in that video. But it's ALWAYS "aw, look at the stupid adorable Alaskans, they're so folksy and quaint and unattractive."

    I think the media has been paying so much unneccesary attention to the Palin thing BECAUSE they get to cover Alaska from that angle. Lame.

    It's a hell hole, but I am allowed to say that because I'm from there. #tyrafaketoenails
