Dude in the picture looks like the textbook definition of toolbag.
But maybe he's only wearing that shirt because his "female body inspector" shirt is in the wash.
Let me just say that there are so many people and so much beer at Oktoberfest in Munich no one is going to be stressing out about not being able to see boobs in the newspaper. Also, I saw a TON of cock when at Oktoberfest, more than I have ever seen anywhere else in my life. Beer and crowds make men want to pull out their junk.
Seriously though, going beyound this experiment, just about half of the people in our fair country are very put-out by ol' Obama's win. And a subset of those people are willing to do him bodily harm; folks are mad. I am a bit worried about his safety. I don't know if I would want to be the First Black anything in this country...maybe the second or third, you know, when everyone's already gotten used to the idea.
Na, takebacks I wouldn't have minded being the first black dentist or first black woman to pilot an aircraft. Hell, I would love to be the first black trillionaire...but prez? Naw, I would let someone else cross that bridge before me.
@ULookinAtMyJunk: You're reminding me of Dave Chapelle's bit about how his Grandmother told him never to be "the first black man to do anything." This is the one with the man who used the Whites Only toilet at the plant b/c he had a case of the "Mud Butt" which led to the nation's first "Sh*t-In" protest. If you've never seen it, I think it's Season One, and it's absolutely spot-on, not to mention hysterically funny.
I'm sorry but this "experiment" only proves what we already know, kids aged 12-14 are mean and will take ANY excuse they can find to gang up and pick on other kids. It is not a reflection on how liberals or conservatives act. It is a reflection on how life in Jr High truly is...it's a constant bombardment of "if you don't fit in - we will mock you."
@piratealice: Also, when I was that age I was the only kid I know reading my dad's P J O'Rourke and my mum's Naomi Wolf (I was really 'different'). While kids obviously have some political interest, at that age you're only really old enough to reflect the attitudes of your parents and your peers.
Actually, that kind of just makes the outcome of this 'experiment', however flawed it may be, kind of more sinister.
As someone born and raised in "the people's republic of Oak Park," I'm not surprised she got that reaction to the McCain shirt. Although I am very much a product of my hometown and am very liberal, I hope that I could keep my judgments and opinions to myself if I saw anyone (besides Heidi Montag) sporting some Republican gear. Thankfully, I still live in Chicago, so those instances are few and far between.
@tryharder: Ooooh I just visited Chicago for the first time this year. I loved it! It's the only time I'd ever been in a fly over state but it's certainly not a fly over city! The architecture is fascinating and the art institute was great. The restaurants I went to, Gibsons (insanely good) and Ruth's Chris (very good, been to other locations) and staying at the hilton for functions in the Versailles room complete with actors dressed up in Louis XIV outfits in a really attractive historical hotel made me appreciate our President elects' city.
I was really sick to death of this kind of thing in the run up to the election (and I'm in England and only exposed to a fraction of your media). Liberals proclaim to be committed to freedom and choice and all the rest and can often be the most insulting, unbending, and the least willing to accept alternative points of view. Bill Maher, Richard Dawkins etc..set a bad example. And Jezebels? You're not all completely innocent.
As I have said in other venues, that I won't reference because it's shameful self-promotion, that the break down in civility because of this divisiveness is probably one of the worst things for society. I mean, the economy sucks sure, but if everything is the war of all against all, or us against them, that's not society that's almost anarchy.
I love this girl's experiment. I grew up in the bluest state in a militant ultra left wing family so liberal I still can't stand the smell or sight of hippies. Seriously though I an an independent because I think the ultra left and the ultra right are assholes. Nice brainwashing job on these high school kids by the media, the instructors and their parents. At least this girl is not a sheep. Same goes for the idaho twerps. Junior sociopaths in the making. The yankees and red sox thing does not surprise me. I still have never been to a red sox game. I can't stand the fanatics.
I have some issues with the writer of the Chicago Tribune article...
"If Catherine was shocked by such passive-aggressive threats from instructors, just wait until she goes to college."
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know my 65 yr old conservative grandmother was writing for the Tribune now. Every time I get into a political discussion with her (which is rarely, if I can help it) she tells me it's not my fault I've been brainwashed by all my radical, liberal professors. I've had exactly ONE professor that was blatantly liberal and he taught American history so maybe he just believes in learning from the past.
@fauxfruit: Ha, my media studies lecturer was totally a Marxist. In fact, in all of my three years at university, I've never once had a class that didn't invoke Marx at least once. But when your major is religious studies and you take other classes in media studies, political science, gender and women's studies, and philosophy, what can you expect?
All my lecturers have been somewhat liberal, but none of them have ever been 'poltical'. Which is the kind of professionalism I'd expect, anyway.
this girl's experiment is basically why I don't wear shirts that say things on them. Wearing a shirt with a comment is basically inviting people to say things to you and I don't need that ish.
Obviously, I don't mean to say that it's cool to blindly hate those with different views, I'm just saying that a reaction like that girl received is sort of expected and isn't a reflection on Obama or McCain supporters, it's a reflection of the stupidity of blind allegience.
Cute girl, heartbreaking intolerance, good intentions.
However, the idea of the same girl wearing different shirts on different days communicating two very different things reminds me of when the Broncos and the Packers were in the Super Bowl. I openly supported the Packers, but after they lost I wore a Broncos shirt on Color Day because our color was "blaze orange". People called for the head of the "traitor".
I don't know what this is supposed to mean. Flawed study, I guess?

I'd wear that, but only if I can wear these biker shorts. Italy and Germany have always been close.
