Bristol Palin Says Girls Don't "Get" The Consequences Of Sex |

while abstinence is the only way to 100% effectively prevent unplanned pregnancies, it is not realistic to presume every teenage girl and boy will abstain from sex until marriage. for this reason, methods of contraception should be taught in high school so the young men and women of america can focus on building their education before building a family.
the end.

I'm fairly new around here, don't like to start arguments, and I'm really hoping this isn't considered thread jacking, but the last few comments have been really awful. "Bristol is stupid." "Her bastard son will be a serial killer." "No one under 30 should be allowed to talk."
Seriously?!?! Seriously?!?!
Stop it guys! These comments aren't advancing the conversation and honestly, they just make you look bad. I hate sounding "high and mighty," but I couldn't sit here and not say anything.
okay. I'm done.

If you really feel that that age-based discrimination is a good idea, I think perhaps you, yourself should start the movement and refrain from talking anymore.

As a child of a teen mom, who graduated with her class, and with honors, I am offended by the uniformed position that Bristol takes, and more shocked at her parents for encouraging her to court the media. She could be using her position of power to talk about education and health care for young mothers. She could be talking about the need for more comprehensive sexual education. Or, she could STFU, get her GED, go to college, and love her son.

As if it was impossible exercise any control over my own body, either by preventing or terminating a pregnancy. To people like the Palins and my mother, God intended sex to result in pregnancy, and to interfere with that plan is unthinkable.

I'm an only child. There's a bit of a logic fail, there.

She does look nice on the cover though, and that baby is adorable.

I think that's a little harsh. How many people were much more sensible at her age?
She has a lot of pressures-from the media, from her family, from people like us-to deal with, and I'm surprised she hasn't completely broken down under them.

Right, but still, calling her a ridiculous person takes that one thing and uses it to damn everything about her.
