I watched the show with both bemusement and utter horror. I have always found The Girls Next Door to be endearing, and their lifestyle so far from mine that it is like watching those National Geographic documentaries on a far-off culture.

But Kendra is so incredibly tacky, and her now-husband and I wore the same "I don't believe it" expression in observing her antics.

    Oh.

    Oh, dear.

This would be bad even if inaccurate co-optation of urban slang were not a phenomenon approximately the same number of years old as Incan civilization.

She's dumb for sure...I really wish she went to school and educated herself a little more...because she needs it. That being said, she seems incredibly sweet and nice and I LOVE her fiancee/husband now. They seem like a really good couple and I wish them all the luck.

@JinxyMcDeath: You know, Mr. Foibles and I have been watching the show, and for the reasons you listed we are fervently hoping they'll last as a couple. Hank is so adorable and normal, and she's just so sweet and goofy. They really do make a sweet couple.

@JinxyMcDeath: I don't personally know her, but going to school is not everyone's purpose in life. I've never heard anything offensive and ignorant (wich, let's face it, doesn't necesarily comes from being uneducated)coming from her. She is very sweet, nice and funny from what I've seen on tv.

Poor Kendra. I do this. I have been to co-opt Aussie slang, urban slang, cockney slang, Southern slang and Hawaiin slang and American 70's slang..uhhh, all in one sentence. G'day mah bishes, y'all are a bunch of twists and Haolies, and, yo, I can dig it.

@femputer: @I got an A - now where's my bacon?: It's strange; there this underlying message that it's empowering, I think, or that it makes these reality girls really cool for not being "wet blankets," or something. I don't have a massive problem with it, but it's curious to me. The strip clubs I have seen are pretty much the saddest places ever.

@PreposterousHypothesis: I believe you're right, though I do think it involves dance to some degree. (My hyphy knowledge is derived entirely from a DVD that someone put on in a dorm room when I was in college. There was dancing that happened. That's all I know.)

The dog sniffing the woman's armpits reminded me that I use to think it was so sweet when my friend's dog placed her snout in my lap whenever I first went around. I later realied the dog was simply doing that to identify me by my personal parfum de rare affinity.
