    Unfortunately I had surgery yesterday and was unable to crap with the rest of you, but I'd like to say, belatedly, that CH was my favorite feature of 2008. Many thanks to Moe & Megan, the guest commentators, & the commenters for educating me through snark, wit, and occasionally jackassery.

    I obviously managed to miss (or be in denial about) an announcement about the demise of Crappy Hour, but I am so sorry to discover that this is it's last day. This is a great feature, and often my first source of interesting and important news -- and Megan's analysis is often the only way I can make sense of a particular disaster.


    So: A) Fuck you, Gawker powers that be, because you're really not very wise, and B) Thank you Megan, and all of the other contributors (Moe, I miss you!) to the Hour, for all the smarts and all the laughs.


    This is not a good time in history for people who like words strung together intelligently, is it?

    I know I've been a crappy fan these past few months. But between all the work stress and the three hour time difference, I just never got a chance to give you the attention you deserve. I've been missing you, and now I'll miss you even more knowing your not there.

    Crappy Hour has allowed me to spend countless hours talking politics and current events, something not even my most dedicated friends will allow me to do on a regular basis. When the world was all wishy-washy and topsy-turvy, Megan and the other contributors to CH were like breathes of sanity.


    With that I say: Please, please don't go. At least not forever. At least tell me this is just a break, because, dear, sweet CH, I really need even false hope.

    Roland Burris is going to end up seated -- it's inevitable. Blago is too much the political operator to do without having consulted his minions. There's little recourse for the Senate -- the current, legally-elected Governor of Illinois has appointed him, and unless there's some kind of retroactive impeachment, there's nothing the Senate can do to bar him, because he meets all the established criteria for being a Senator from Illinois.

    Crappy Hour has been the most misnamed feature on Jezebel, for it has been the singularly best hour I have spent most days. Its quirky mix of politics, personal observation, and the topical shifts made it Meet The Press meets local news, all on acid. It kept us all in the loop on the shifting currents of the Presidential election, made it possible for us to laugh at just how ludicrous politics in America has become, and created much needed debate on issues of the day.


    We will all miss it and the passion it brought to the table. I thank Megan from the bottom of my heart for putting all the work into it she did, and thank all her cohorts for giving up their time to provide Megan with so many smart and entertaining foils. Let this not be goodbye, only until next time.
