    @Sweet Panda Love: AFAIK, 'squirrel' is actually the term Scientologists use to refer to people who use the Scientology "technology" incorrectly, or who modify it. They are different from SPs, although squirrels I suppose are a type of SP. Oftentimes they are referring to former Scientologists who use Scientology practices outside of the official "church" (cough, cough). The quote is still confusing because most protestors wouldn't touch scientology tech with a ten foot pole. Also I have no idea what the "electronic incident" bit means. #tomcruisescientology

    @apricotta: Well that makes a bit more sense. It sounded like a bad Babelfish translation (although I don't see "Scientology" on the list between Russian and Spanish).

    ETA: Also, I just Googled electronic incident, and it apparently refers to "some form of brain washing implemented in a past life, likely by a psychiatrist and or alien." Right!

    Well I was taking that Bronson Pinchot story about Tom Cruise with a grain of salt as Bronson is, from what I've read, not exactly a paragon of sanity himself. But now... I hope Tom wasn't also saying he's glad there were no gay squirrels there. #tomcruisescientology

    I'm not necessarily saying NOW is right - I don't work for David Letterman, so I don't know what the atmosphere there is like - but having Rob Burnett, a man, reply to accusations of a toxic (and I assume sexist) environment does not do anything to convince me. Men may not actively do anything to promote a sexist environment, but in general, they are pretty unaware of the subtle and persistent acts of misogyny that take place every day and it needs to be pointed out to them. And even then, the response is likely to be that you're making a big deal out of nothing ("is she on her period?") and should focus on the IMPORTANT issues.

    And pointing out that 58% of the staff are women is like saying you have black friends, so you can't be racist!

    Did somebody say patriarchy?
