"I believe this legislation is really on the right side of history," Lieberman said. "The basic point here is federal employees should not have to choose between their commitment to federal public service and their commitment to their families because they get fewer protections for their families than they could receive from private employers."
I still think Lieberman is the prince of asshats. That said, maybe we're one step closer.
The Autry National Center of the American West is currently hosting a series called "Out West," which they describe as "a series of programs examining the LGBT community's contributions to the American West." In addition to all the Brokeback Mountain talk, there are some other good stories, like the tale of One Eyed Charlie, a heavy-drinking stagecoach driver who, as it turned out, was born Charlotte. Charlie may have been the first female to vote in an American Presidential election. There's a decent article about the series in the LA Times.
Not in a holiday mood? Watch this video of the #internationalmale models having a red and white boxer-brief pillow fight to get you right in the holiday spirit!
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: Either that or Irin was already writing her post while I was stumbling through the Times' website. Either way, great minds think alike, right?
@Ailatan: This is another example of why I heart you! :) I posted a link down below but without a proper embedded clip.
This movie looks fantastic. After the first trailer I was worried the costumes and makeup might scare me or my kids, but it looks so darned exuberant.#tips
@Ailatan: No, don't apologize! Like I said, I wasn't able to attach a clip and I'm glad you did!
I haven't read "Through the Looking Glass" yet, so I can't tell if it's true to the book. Either way, it looks fabulous and makes me love Helena Bonham Carter even more. That pig scene is hilarious.
The responses, as you would imagine, include quite a bit of homophobia. But just the mere fact that the BBC thought this would be an appropriate question for a free-for-all discussion is just depressing and digusting. This shouldn't even be a question.
It's only the beginning of the week, but it's already getting worse for Tiger Woods. His doctor is being investigated by the FBI for supplying "performance enhancing drugs" to athletes:
There's this story in The Daily Hate about a study that shows that people who look younger than they really are tend to live longer. Apparently, a youthful look is an indication of good health.
The study was conducted on twins, in Denmark.
