I understand how people can look at Rihanna and get that 'what a stupid bitch' mentality. I get that completely, it's easy to do, because you look at her, and think 'well, if she's not smart enough to help herself, she deserves what she gets'. But, sometimes, it's not that easy.
Sometimes, you can't just leave. I don't know why. To this day, i still don't know why i didn't just leave. . . but i didn't. I couldn't. Out of all the incidents, and out of every time my ex boyfriend struck me, there is always one that stands clear in my head. I could close my eyes and see it like it was yesterday. I will never forget him throwing my down, and climbing on top of me. I will never forget how heavy he was, and how i couldn't breathe. I will never forget the sound my head made as it hit the ground every time, as he shook me. I will never forget the fear that he was going to kill me that night. After that we dated for 2 more months. And i would never be able to explain to you why.
I'm sorry for going on, i guess this was kind of cathartic, but i just feel that some people don't understand, that it's not always easy to leave. Even when you know you should, or when you know it's wrong, sometimes, it's just not that easy.

Re: the weight thing. I wish I had people paying me to lose weight. But that's just me, on a Monday morning with tight pants on that may or may not be because of the dryer.

My parents remain married to this day. My mother got therapy, with my father and without, and as a couple they have worked through it until my mother no longer expresses herself violently to him or to me or my sister.
This is not a justification for what Chris Brown did or for Rhianna going back to him, but I just wanted to point out that you can break that cycle of violence and sometimes you need the person you love -- especially if they are the person you hurt -- by your side when you face that darkest part of yourself and attempt to change.
I don't know them, and I don't know their private situation. But this CAN turn into a positive thing, and I think Chris and Rhianna going, together, to work with a therapist to help Chris's issues with violence should be encouraged.

Whether or not they will stay together, whether or not anything like this will ever happen again, is something I have absolutely no insight into. But Rhianna can at least BEGIN the healing process if she is choosing (as it seems she is) to stay with Chris. She may not be with him in the end, but she may be able to help begin a process that will benefit all his future partners and any family he eventually has.
