What the fuck ever, I adore MK & Ashley and their sense of style and their clothing lines. I can't afford anything from The Row, yet, but I would not hesitate to buy one of their $300 t-shirts if I had the means. I like a bare minimum wardrobe of chic, high quality basics in good materials, and I tend to notice every detail and flaw, so to me, it might be worth it. I did get a pair of Elizabeth and James pants on sale at Nieman Marcus, and they are more flattering and of better quality than probably any other piece of clothing I own.
Wow, really? Is anyone commenting actually looking at their collections? There's a plus size model right on the main page at the Elizabeth and James site. You can argue all you want that it's not enough but they're giving us more than most designers as well-known as them. People blindly jumping on fashion industry people for fat hate are just as bad as fat hating fashion industry people.
@okaykoko: Surprising. It does count for something, you're right. It's still overall a really weird photo shoot of people who look like they'd annoy me.
Ok, I'm not exactly unbiased on the topic because I love Mary-Kate so much (she is literally the only celebrity I would hysterically fangirl over if I met in person, and all my friends are well aware that if you talk smack about MK, I Will. Fucking. Cut. You.) But seriously you guys, The Row is a really good line. It's not a celebrity vanity line a la Paris Hilton perfume, and it doesn't pretend to be trendy or all things to all people. It's rocking a very specific boyish, eye-linered, languid, Carine Roitfeld/Charlotte Rampling style, and it does a few things very very precisely and well. When I would go to Le Bon Marche in France, the shoppers were always wild for well-fitting, gorgeously rendered black basics, and none of them knew it was the Olsen Twins' line. In conclusion, I want MK and Ash to adopt me.
I'm pretty sure they don't have anything in their collection under $100. I recall a t-shirt being a couple of hundred. I happen to like their stuff, but ladies, unless its made out of fucking gold and hand-sewn, it ain't worth it!
I haven't seen anything by the Row but I've tried on some things from E&J. Really cute stuff, runs small, expensive. I remember reading about The Row a few years back and the article talked about how the tops were seamless, not sure if that's still the case. Wasn't there a post yesterday about how 10 people produce the line? That would explain the incredible prices.
Speaking of black basic beautifully cut clothes, I got the BEST black dress last weekend at Target for $29.99. I love it and got so many compliments on it the other night.
I think I will spend a month's salary on a lamb leather pencil skirt. It's an investment piece that will surely help me find a new place to live when I become evicted for not paying my actual bills.
