I felt a bit bad for Jill. It seemed like the BBC guy was mocking her. Yeah, she might be "out of touch", but last I checked both her and her husband work.
@sexandphilosophy: I looked stuff up on Jill, and it seems she came from a similar background as me, and her first job (assistant buyer at filenes) is what I want as MY first job.
Now I like her more.
Also, I think she said that her and Bobby DO live below their means, which means she isn't to blame at all. I thought it was a bit "off" of her to brag about never being in debt like it's a virtue. I'm probably not far off base in the assumption that her parents put her though school. She should try to understand that not everyone has that.
@greengrey: i think never being in debt is something to be proud of but going into debt for school, house or car is nothing to be ashamed of. (as long as credit isn't funding your daily life, it's ok.)
When the Countess got SCAMMED by a street vendor and bought two necklaces for $150!!! HOLY SHIT! How clueless is she? She's been living in NYC that long and still buys a $15 necklace for $100!
I would have been like "very funny, I'll give you $20."
Bethenny has long been my favorite. She's hilarious, in a way that none of them could be, especially when she's drunk. And she's gorgeous! And who gives a shit if she's 37 and not married? STFU already LuAnn, Ramona, Jill. Oh, and Kelly, you are the tackiest, fame-grubbing whore around. And you're a psycho, nothing you say makes sense. From watching the previews for next week, you are only going to further establish yourself as the conductor on the crazy train headed to psychoville. And I cannot wait.
@LVP: Really? Because none of them, save Alex, seem all that constrained by the fact that they have children. Not that they should be, but I don't see it.
@Maritsa: yeah, those ladies seem to barely see their children. i don't think having kids made them be tied down. they're sending their kids to boarding schools, after all.
Did anyone else notice that Ramona said that having a jewlery line on QVC or HSN (whatever) has been a goal of hers for...wait for it...a year now. A FULL YEAR, YA'LL!
I love Jill Zarin and I think she handled that interview perfectly. If you have money, you're allowed to spend it (although watching "The Daily Show" afterwards and seeing Wyatt Cenac's sketch on the people in Sweden may have changed my mind), as long as it's within your means. She also gives to charity - a lot. What else do you want from her?
And that burlap feed bag on Alex? Holy shizz. $7,000? Seriously, THOSE people live beyond their means. Who just drops $7,000 on a burlap corset that says "FEED" on it? (Although I do admit it looked good on her) And who in their right mind would wear it to the fucking opera?
@JinxyMcDeath: Yeah, I didn't see what the interviewer was trying to get at by blaming Jill Zarin for the bad economy. The woman lives within her means, her means is just bigger than the majority of the population.
@AthertonMerriweather: And while she is being mean this season (what was with telling Brad he ate dog food? Shades of middle school...) I'm glad she wasn't trying to act like the recession is hurting her pocketbook and they're all eating hamburger helper, carrying a single lightbulb from room to room, etc.
@JinxyMcDeath: Lauren Bush has a charity that raises money by selling those burlap "FEED" bags. Each one you buy gives enough money to feed a certain number of people. Simon bought this corset made from the cloth from one of those bags (he said is was from "Lauren's charity", LOL) at a charity auction. So one could assume that much of the $7,000 went to the charity.
@fulanita: I realize it's for charity...but it seems like a ridiculous way to go about it and I really hope that the "costs" of making the corset were minimal...
@AthertonMerriweather: I used to like Jill, but this season she's lost all the earthiness that made her appealing. Now she just seems as vapid and spoiled as the rest of them.
I watched a marathon last night as I was way behind, so a couple of comments from the night, since I cant remember which episode is which.....
New Benz, nice. $16 K Purse? Hello. Clearly Zarin shoppers are overpaying for everything. Jill looked like stepford wife in magazine shoot Yikes, those big earrings on Alex are ugly and painful Simon freakout re: suprise, kinda off-putting. he's back on the s-list. Do Alex and Simon seem like they are really super kinky off camera? Like they could be into swapping or some other "eyes wide shut" scene? Roller girl costume- awesome, i'm totes doing that this year. Countess Pocahontas- we know you're an american Indian already, give it up. Also, the shopping day was about your daughter, not you. very un-countess like. SHe also didnt offer her Rosie cappuccino, which irked me, she was in the room! Vegan muffins and cookies.....where's the chicken? so funny! Romona is a giant nervous tick. I'm also obesssed with her twirl. Kelly, i hate her! Jill telling her her kids are behaved was so a backhanded compliment, like she didnt think they would be. Kellys pictures made her look old and craggly. How come she didnt know anyone at her party?
I cant wait for NJ, the promo's are awsome.
"I scheeve other peoples houses"> yes and one day some one will scheeve yours.
@OnTheCastingCouch: I was also wondering how it came to be that Kelly didn't know anyone at her own party. And what the hell her and Max's costumes were supposed to be. And why she wouldn't put cashbar on the invite. Or stuff her phone into her cleavage/tiny bag. SO MANY QUESTIONS.
Did you notice Kelly said something along the lines of "I'm a mom, I have to tone it down" about her Halloween costume?! Even the Fi was rolling her eyes on that one. But I have to give Ramona props for trying the supposed dog food after Brad ate some. Jill was being mean. Why are they friends?
Also, Alex's feed bag was a total AbFab moment for me.
Everything Ramona does/says makes me feel psychotic. Including that little dance she does in the bumper. Looking at it makes me want to shoot something.
I loved when the countess and Victoria were shopping and Victoria asked how much something cost and the countess said "well, that doesn't really matter so much." That bugged the shit out of me especially since she made a point to haggle that necklace down.
@artyfarty: Haha, I've so had those moments shopping where I literally forget to check the price tag. And then I'll get to the register and be all like "Wait, what?! How much are you charging me for these yoga pants?! I guess I'll just leave them with you..."
Clearly, having a Victoria in my life would save me from embarrassment.
Being at school at the moment, I can not see the video, however I am really enjoying that gif. She looks like a caricature of herself done by Kirsten Wiig, I wonder if the Wiig could even improve upon this. More crazy in the face, and some additional awkward movements possibly could be done, but I think this lady has got both of those down pat.
@neurotickitten: I get the feeling that if someone were to do a Ramona impression it would come off as less crazy than she actually is. It may be impossible to out crazy her.
R_Claw(a/k/a Mrs. Edward Cullen): I fell asleep during the 10pm airing and woke up during the last 5 minutes, thinking "ah I'll just watch the 11pm one." Then I fell asleep AGAIN. So I watched the 12am airing and it was so damn boring I wish I had just gone to bed and gotten a 3rd hour of sleep instead.
@wordinedgewise: This is the first time in the entire month of April that I have been able to reply to people. I feel your pain. And I don't know why, suddenly, I am able to reply.
