I think that the reason people (media, bloggers, news networks) still obsess over Palin and the ridiculous crap she says is because so many people defend and support her so fiercely. She's like a barometer for a lot of the things that are wrong with our country in terms of the way that the two-party system polarizes people.
She is the poster child for this large, passionate, misguided and woefully misinformed segment of the population. She proves that you can make every wrong move in the book and still command the respect of this scary Christian conservative base. Not only do I think that she's never going to go away, I think that in 5 years Universities everywhere will be offering classes based on the Palin phenomenon of politics.
@sybann: Agreed. The more moral outrage the radical right spends now on behalf of their beloved icon, the less spending power it'll have come 2012. She may have succeeded in keeping her name in the spotlights but she's pissing people off left and right and spending vast reserves of her severely limited cachet. So let's get all the entertainment and easy outrage we can out of her before she flames out or just ends up taking a cushy job on fox and becoming another Coulter clone.
I love Jezebel, but things are REALLY all-Palin-all-the time arond here recently. There are SIX stories about her on the first page of Jezebel right now.
"Good To Know: Sarah Palin Believes In Racial Profiling, Glenn Beck "
"Sarah Palin: Media Sideshow, Or Viable Candidate?
"Palinizing" Prejean, Prejeanizing Palin: Two Conservative Women Look Out For #1
Palin Admits She's A "Quitter," Never Went To Hockey Games
Contest: Your Turn To Go Rogue
and this one.
Can we please stop giving her the attention she so desperately wants and move on?
@SlappySquirrel: THANK YOU. I mean hello, she LOST the election and we're not getting 6 stories per day about McCain. I am starting the slow clap in your honor.
@HannahBethD: I just don't get why so much is written about her in the first place. There isn't much to be said that hasn't been said already.
It really saddened me yesterday when I saw that there were hundreds of comments (and yeah, I contributed one) on the Newsweek thing when there were less than 30 on the latest healthcare/abortion update.
I think I'm going to to stop clicking/commenting on these posts. I think we ALL have better things to do with our lives than waste another moment on this woman.

We must always remember this woman exists, and can wreak havoc. No matter what she makes herself into in 2012.

Before people get all bent outta shape about the wall-to-wall coverage - remember ABSENCE makes the heart grow fonder. *wink*

Questions make the mind go ponder.

Judge Judy springs to mind. But even for her, six seems excessive.

Of course, but if the writers weren't writing about Palin, they might use that time to write about something awesome.
