    Geezus people, just stop wearing fur. Regardless of where it comes from, what it is or what animal it's "in" to kill this year ... it's never ever good.


    It's especially disturbing to me that all these young designers are jumping on the fur bandwagon now too: Jason Wu, etc. Can't we just get over it already?

    @NicoleItchy: I completely echo your sentiment. I'm not a peta person, I'm not going to go throw paint on anyone, or whatever they did in the 80's, but really, I'm just tired by the idea that we can't get fucking relevant.


    I mean, just get over it already. To me, it's no different than using fluorescent light bulbs - the old style is over, it's done, and there's no reason to hang on.

    Charivari always seemed like one of those "too cool to go in" places when I was young and learning about fashion. But I summoned up the nerve once and they were very nice to me -- I'm sure they knew I couldn't buy anything.

    Bobcat fur is in vogue? Really? I don't get it. I don't understand why anyone wears fur anyway--but bobcat fur seems especially silly to me. Bobcats aren't farmed for fur, are they? They're being hunted, right?

    @miggery sow: Trapped. I live in an area with an "indeterminate" bobcat population, and wildlife experts are concerned. Because of the nature of the cat we can't get a good count to start with, which means of course we can't get a good idea of when the cat becomes endangered.


    Also, you don't need any kind of license to trap them.

    @miggery sow: They are classified as "varmints" - I know that a few years ago "varmints" were classified as predatory animals that could be killed at will. It *might* be that you have to have some sort of pelt-dealer permit, but I'm not sure and don't have the heart to research that.

    I am confused on the labor laws... In New York, you can get a work-permit for internships at age 14. I had one, so I could be a candy-striper. It allowed for you to work, uncompensated, for a limited number of hours per week. I feel like this would also cover the Bazaar internship, unless this is not NYC Bazaar and other states don't have the same permit available?

    Harper's Bazaar might be technically violating the labor laws, but am I the only one who thinks calling giving a teenaged girl who is already set to inherit millions a job that no other girl her age would be able to get "exploitation" is sort of a kick in the face to the kids that child labor laws were actually written for?
