    It's nice seeing people on the spectrum represented in real life. It's just one of their facets...they're not a label...they're people who happen to have a different way of seeing the world. Thank goodness for Aspies!

    I'm getting a little irritated that Asperger's is the new "maladie celebre" nowadays. ANTM, this, there's a movie about it coming out (can't remember the title), the book "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," etc. It's becoming a shorthand personality in the eyes of the media and that's insulting and annoying.

    People focus on the syndrome rather than on the people who have it. It's leading to the general public labeling ANYTHING slightly awkward as Asperger's, even though they have never studied psychology or known anyone with autism of any kind. (Within 10 minutes of meeting me last week, a woman suggested my husband "probably has" it because I told a story about him being blunt.)

    @LaComtesse: My fiance has Asperger's, as do his brother and father. We are all really happy to see the condition in the public sphere, giving some normalcy to it, especially for the younger brother who has a very severe case and feels like he is a social pariah on account. Of course there are going to be jackasses who don't get it, but the overall good of socially normalizing it far outweighs anything the jackasses could do. Why are you so angry about it? Do you have an Aspy in your life? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm honestly curious.

    @Fletch(er): I don't remember where exactly, but Blomkvist says it almost off-handedly at one point. (Though I must say, this certainly wasn't the biggest problem I had with the book.)

    Mel White is the fucking man! He is one of the leaders of Soulforce, which is pretty much one of the coolest GLBT rights organizations. I might watch the Amazing Race just so I can see him.

As far as I can tell, in our society, female bisexuals are considered to be drunk sorority girls looking for attention, and male bisexuals are either threatening or are told that they're "gay, straight, or lying."     @Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: Because of the difference of passports, it may be easier to get through customs when you have a Canadian passport. So I think he said somethink to the effect of "Canadians would have an unfair advantage"
