    You know, I don't pretend to know or understand the personal lives of celebrities based on tabloid and media reports. And yet, all of my assumptions about Nicolas Cage were spot freaking on.     Maybe the Oscars will be entertaining this time around?

    Alec Baldwin is hilarious. He was the best thing about "The Departed" along with Mark Walhberg. (I kinda forgot Leo was in it)

    His new movie with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin looks very funny.

    I'm still pissed about the change to nominate 10 pictures for Best Picture. I don't think the TV audience will be bigger just because the Hangover or whatever is nominated. #nicolekidman

    @belle TL: I especially like it when I've actually gotten on the train, only to find that the train can't climb the track's minor uphill grade, or that the air conditioning has gone out in the middle of July, or that the train has "unexpectedly stalled."     Dodai, consider yourself lucky to not be faced with watching Steve Martin in "The Pink Panther" 1 AND 2 and "Cheaper by the Dozen" 1 AND 2, more than once at the request of you kids.

    He was in Baby Mama, though. I didn't think he was that funny but I liked the movie overall. #nicolekidman

    @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): !!Steve Martin is absolutely amazing and incredibly funny. Please, no one judge him by those films. Have you ever seen him play the banjo and sing? Or his material from when he was young?
    I love him, he is one of my all-time favorite comedians. The Jerk, anyone? He also wrote a really great book on his early struggles to make it in comedy... #nicolekidman

    @Eleanor Ramilly: Few people (that I know) would disagree with you about Steve Martin's early career.
    But, even crazed fans of his early work (like myself) have to admit that his recent choices have been...sub-par.
    Personally, I'll always adore the guy. And I think he and Alec Baldwin could make a good Awards Host team. Maybe Tina Fey can throw in some jokes - it worked on 3o Rock! #nicolekidman

    @fluxus flucker: Yeah, but c'mon. ... He's gotten older, he doesn't have the role options he used to, and people do love those Cheaper by the Dozen movies and I think The Pink Panther did well. And he was funny in The Pink Panther, I mean, about as funny as you can be in a movie like that? I liked Shop Girl, that was only three years ago.
    And he is touring with his banjo now, so.. I think he's doing pretty well. #nicolekidman

    @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): I think he was in Baby Mama because, like all right-thinking Americans, Steve Martin is in love with Tina Fey.

    I'm happy because (a) I think Steve Martin is a good Oscar host and (b) I expect Tina to get a few good moments during the ceremony due to cronyism. #nicolekidman

    @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): Wow, I just saw Steve Martin in September for and actors studio-style "Evening with.." and he specifically said he wasn't interested in hosting the Oscars again because he'd been there/done that. I wonder if working with Alec was the lure? #nicolekidman

    @Eleanor Ramilly: One of my favorite things to watch when I'm down is The Muppet Show episode where Steve Martin hosts. Ah, Muppets and banjo playing Steve Martin!

    Well, I thought Steve Martin absolutely killed when he hosted the Oscars a few years back, and Alec Baldwin always brings the funny to SNL and whatever talk show he appears on, so I think this could be really great.
