lajaponais-- you didn't get confidence and intelligence from Hillary Clinton? I thought she was just the bee's knees, even back in the day.

Laura and Barbara... different kind of First Lady. I realize that you just kind of get the job. You discuss it with your spouse, but, really, you yourself haven't prepped for it, probably, and you're stuck with it whether you want it or not. STILL, I feel like one should really use that position to her best advantage and be a role model for the country, showing herself as intelligent, active, and strong. I don't feel like wives Bush took full advantage with what they could have done as First Ladies.

@LaComtesse: What Hillary lacked to me was neither intelligence nor determination. She has always evidenced those things in spades.

Until late in this election, she lacked warmth, empathy, intimacy, relatability. She was much more appealing to me after I saw those qualities. But by then, the primaries were effectively over.

@theysaidwhat: Word. I always had a hard time seeing Hillary Clinton as a Mom, you know? A shrewd business woman with a lots of ideas and intelligence to spare, but not particularly warm or empathetic-seeming. I mean, I'm sure Hillary's a good mom - she's raised a beautiful, intelligent daughter with whom she seems to have a good relationship - but with Michelle Obama you can SEE what sort of mom she is. And that is to say, awesome.

They are so great together! And I'm happy that we have a First Lady that exudes confidence, intelligence, and class. She just seems so warm and relatable.... I never got that impression from Laura Bush, Hillary, and especially Barbara Bush.

@lajaponais: I always kinda liked Laura, even though I felt a little sorry for her. However, this is the best video ever on it. As for Michelle, she seems to down to earth and reachable and at this point in everyone's lives, I think we really need that in our first lady. And she's def a Lady!!!!

They really are an adorable family. They seem like the house where you'd always find yourself hanging out as a kid, even if you had arrived to find the kids were out. You'd stay just chatting with Mom and Dad.

@foregoneconclusion: If you have the right to vote in America, you really should vote. It makes me really sad to hear that people don't excersize their rights, and that a lot of people don't think it's a responsibility they have. And I mean that in most non-accusatory way possible, because of course I understand that there are myriad reasons for not actually doing it. :(
