Japanese Mayor Kazutaka Sangen spoke recently in defense of his town's decision to continue hunting (non-endangered) local dolphins, despite recent Hollywood attention: "We are not going to change our plans for the town based on the criticism of foreigners."

Several Japanese movie theaters canceled screenings of the anti-dophin hunting documentary The Cove due to protests, so the distributor is allowing it to be aired online for a limited time, saying people should see the film before attacking it. [Reuters]
