I sort of like Twitter. Sure, it can be a boring wall of absolutely banal, inane overshare, but only if you follow Twitters that are banal and insane. I have friends who tweet like roughly 800 times a day about how they have a sandwich or a hangnail or they're conducting respiration, so I just don't follow them.

The rest of my friends--the ones who can type in complete sentences and enjoy sharing little, funny, interesting, pithy moments of their day that they might otherwise forget? I kind of like it. It's like a 24/7 chatroom with all the people I like.

It doesn't mean I've given up on telephones and email and texting and instant messaging and blogs/social networking sites or whatever--it's just one more way to communicate. Sure, it's a little silly, but some of it can be oddly touching.

I think Canadians do this in the fall (or at least people in Ontario do it in the fall) - at some companies, kids actually dress like they would on a regular school day (i.e. really sloppy), while other companies require the students to "look professional." Personally, I think kids should actually dress like they're going for a "real job." We truly live in a casualized society today and it's really sad. My BF, who is nearing 30, doesn't even know how to set a proper table.

@PetiteGal: Ours is November, I think... in Ontario we do it in grade 9. I only remember this because I was in grade 9 in 2001, and because of 9/11 I wasn't allowed to go to work with my dad (security reasons and etc). It was really boring though, I remember that much.

Is it possible, at the end of the day, to create a post that is a simple copy and paste of the day's tweets and put it up for those of us who really can't manage ANOTHER username and password? Because I really want to see this, but I really don't want to sign up for Twitter. And I can be patient.

gah, I loved Take your Daughter to Work day. Screw all these kid based activities and special lunches! I went to the operating room with my mom and watched spinal cord surgeries and tonsillectomies! Now, it's like a day of free babysitting by secretaries and event planners...

..I have seen the spinal cord through vertebra and my 2 year old cousin's snot makes me gag? WTF.

I only caved because facebook is blocked at work. Twitter and Jez, for some reason, are not and I need SOMETHING to pass the time. Twitter is just a half-decent time-waster, but I'll take it.
