I got married last week in a state park, cost $0, and then we took everyone to a Mexican restaurant for food and booze. It was awesome and my hubby and I paid for it ourselves, and we went into zero debt. We just got our pics back from my dad and everyone looks so happy. It was awesome.

More power to this couple!

For the record, if I'd had $10,000 or something, I would have spent it on my friends' flights and hotels. That's something I really wanted to do but couldn't.

I'm 34, and I haven't gotten married yet. After attending 5,000 weddings in my 20's, I gotta say I'm not doing the traditional wedding. I feel like GOd might strike me down if I tried to put on a white dress at this point, you know?

@unpopular: When my father accidentally found out I wasn't a virgin (at age 19) he forbade me from wearing white at my wedding. He seemed to forget this when it came time for the actual ceremony, and I can assure you no lighting bolts struck the church or any of my guests. But I think non-traditional weddings are much more meaningful anyways.

@BlondeGrlz is due April 1st: Oh, I'm totally not wearing white, either. I'm a grown woman, not a vestal virgin. The dress I picked out is very indulgently princess-like and a very flattering shade of blue, I defy anyone to hate on it. It is /gorgeous/ and I feel beautiful in it and isn't that after all the whole point?

My mother managed to tongue trap me. Turns out my dad had figured it out way before, just by the fact that I was breaking curfew by an hour or so every time I went to go see my b/f. The sexhair probably clued him in on the rest.
But for my mom, denial was sweet and strong.

@semi-Spartan: Uh, I might have dropped the condoms I was keeping in my purse under my parent's bed. They found them when I was already back at college, so it was a very awkward three-way phone conversation. I was like "for the love of God, I'm 19 and using protection! Can I get on the pill now?" any both my parents cried and prayed for my soul to be spared.

Afterward we went back to pretending it wasn't happening and that my live-in boyfriend "slept on the couch" of our one bedroom apartment.

@Crack Is Whack: I wore a light blue cocktail dress for my (2nd) wedding with the most AWESOME birdcage veil. I've only been married for a little over a year and I've already wore the dress once again (unfortunately, I can't think of a situation in which to wear my feathered veil again). Wear whatever makes you feel pretty, ftw.

I LOVE Taco Bell. I'm just going on the record to say that I love it more than anyone really should. I don't eat it super often, but when I do, I consider it to be a mondo treat.

IF I ever decide to re-marry...I want to do something like this. Somewhere that means something to us and costing under $250. My other wedding was expensive and done more for our parents than for us. I still regret it :(

Most of my early dates with Mr. BGZ were at Applebee's, and although I wouldn't have gotten married there a Maple White Chocolate Blondie wedding cake would have been delicious.

No judging here - to each their own and good for them for not falling for the gazillion dollar wedding hype. However, I will say this story makes me feel ever so much better about my own courthouse wedding that I occasionally guilt over for not making more of an 'effort'.
