Yeah the rich women and girls of Egypt all get transported around in private cars with drivers, so they never actually have to deal with the CONSTANT HARASSMENT on streets, minibuses, trains, and taxis. It is a sure sign you are looking at someone very upper class if she is dressed in tight jeans and free flowing hair. Any woman, wearing the hijab or no, who has stepped foot in Egypt, is laughing in disbelief right now.
She may just be totally oblivious to it, perhaps because she probably lives in Cairo and in a more cosmopolitan social environment. Lots of well-to-do, socially moderate Muslimas in Cairo don't where hijab and are probably not as pressured to do so as women living in more provincial communities...
It's probably kind of like being an well-to-do woman living in affluent Mumbai, she exists in a completely different social and cultural sphere than a woman living in Dharavi, and even more so than a woman living in rural, tribal India. It may be acceptable for her to marry a person of another caste or even another religion, where this would probably be an grossly difficult thing for a rural woman to accomplish.
I have an irrational dislike for this woman ever since she came to Germany to visit a hospital where my school's choir performed for her and her companions. She made us wait for TWO HOURS because she randomly decided to go Christmas shopping.
@musicpup is mad as a sack of badgers: Well, that anecdote confirms what this post is telling us-- that she's so caught up in her own little world of luxury and privilege that she has no sense of how her actions impact other people.
