Like, this is the new Republican meme. Obama will be the end of America As We Know It.
You know, I hope it will be. I hope that if Obama wins that we can talk about race, class, sex in real adult terms. That people can really be assessed on merit and when they happen to be black or a woman and they are exceptional bitter angry people don't automatically negate their achievements by saying that they got where they are because of affirmative action. That we don't stop caring about people when they move from "potential life" to being born. That schools can be well funded. That people can have health care that is not based on employment but based on the fact that a healthy populace is necessary for a healthy democracy. That people can be more than "tolerated" and seen as full human beings with all the rights and privileges afforded to non-minorities (I'm'a lookin' at you Prop 8.)
But what do I know. I am an Angry Black Woman.
I will go back to my drink now; wake me when it's over.
I'm so freaking out. McCain's going to Win, Prop 8 is going to pass, I'm going to get that red light ticket, I'm going to fail all my classes, I'm going to drop out, I'm going to go insane because I can't afford health care, I'm going to get some shitty job, and die alone in my apartment while chocking on a TV dinner.
I've been trying to do these meditations things so calm me down. I don't want to spend today and tomorrow in a constant panic attack. There are two things that will happen wednesday, each depending on what goes down tomorrow. I either wake up, relaxed, knowing I'm not royally screwed for the next 4 years. Or I wake up crying, crawl under my desk, and eat gallons of ice cream until I get so huge I can see Russia from my house.
And also, who ever wins, I have this feeling that Bush will pull a Britney spears, and lock himself in the Oval Office Bathroom with his kids.
If only I could have read this last night before I had a panic attack talking about the election and went to the hospital, thinking I had a blood clot. I can't wait for November 5t.
Something else: I was at the Obama rally in Highland, Ind. Friday night, and of the estimated 40K people attending, there sure were an awful lot of white people there. In fact, I'd almost be comfortable in saying there were slightly more white people, but without seeing the whole crowd, I can't be sure.
In any case, as racially divided as NWI is, I sure was thrilled to see so many people supporting the best candidate.
One more thing - I painted the porch pillars, railing etc on Sunday (got a sunburn in November - not easy even in NC - took all damn day) and 2 Obama campaign workers asked me to remember to vote (and I have a sign in my yard). It gave me great pleasure to say "Did that on 10/16! Go get another one!"
Honestly! GOP supporters: If the current occupant (aka comatose in chief) and his corrupt cronies haven't broght on the "End Times" with their shenanigans, Barry sure as hell won't.
Guys, my mother disowned me this weekend after we got into a huge McCain-Obama spat - I think the tipping point was when I asked her about my rights if I were to get raped and impregnated and she said that I shouldn't be spreading my legs in the first place. It's sad, really, that it came to this. I will be very happy once this election is over.
@NefariousNewt, Democratic Poll Challenger: No, I wish she did though - it would make the whole argument more "swallowable". She vowed to never step foot in my house ever again. Sigh....

Although I am surprised he is no longer professionally known as Avi Zvi Zenilman or "AZZ" (no, not kidding.)

So, yeah pretty tense.
I was in FL in 2000 and OH in 2004 and witnessed disenfranchisement first hand. . .so yeah. . ."shennanigans" make me nervous.
