I can't understand how men would be comfortable in tights. I'm sure there are some among us that would admit to wearing stockings soley because we haven't really kept up in the body hair maintenance department...remember that weird, squidgy, rubbed-the-wrong-way feeling of your leg stubble under your stockings? How horrible would that feel for guys? Eeeeeeew.
@Aluminum Falcon: I was in a play of King Arthur when I was about 9 and the boys had to wear tights and they hated it! They kept saying 'How can you wear these?!'
@curiousgeorgiana: GLORIOUS! I have had a crush on Mikhail since the 80's. I must watch my VCR taped "Baryshnikov on Broadway" tv special from 1980 this weekend.
I admit, I have taken to wearing leggings. I've defected, alright? But goddammit I draw the line at mantyhose. That's not right. Unless you're a ballerina-man, in which case, you're awesome and exempt from my distaste. Otherwise? Hell to the no.
They make my bright white legs a little less... stark, let me go a day or two longer without shaving, make my silhouette smoother, and aren't all that uncomfortable (especially compared to spanx). Cheap pantyhose are the devil, though- they're itchy and terribly uncomfortable. Higher end brands like Donna Karen and Givenchy feel silky and awesome.
I'm 22 and wear slips as well, so maybe I just need to go back to 1965.
@RubyStanwyck: I agree, pantyhose and slips can be great. I like Spanx, but sometimes I need the leg coverage. Sure, they're not great in the summer, but pantyhose can be great the rest of the year and can really be more comfortable than going without.
after all of the jez pantyhose hate, I tried to give them up and buy those underwear shorts instead. It was awful. They were uncomfortable, unflattering, itchy, and expensive. Pantyhose are cheap, comfy, and widely available, which makes Alan Gant alright with me.
One of my biggest problems with pantyhose is that once I get them up and start to move around, they roll down at the waist. It's so frustrating. It's not that they're falling like they're too loose, they roll down like (I guess?) they're too tight, but they're the right size. Is this something where wearing them a few times and stretching them out some helps?
@sjct: Yes, I realized when I went out and bought black hose at christmas that I didn't get what I was looking for. The upcoming season will bring change.
