Seems to me carrying a baby for 9 months, then giving birth to it, and seeing it outside of you only to give it up would be much more horrific than having an abortion early in the pregnancy.

(Obviously they get together at the end and decide to keep the baby. Did you even have to ask?)

We could do product placement for EPT pregnancy tests and Doritos, for those wacky pregnancy cravings scenes. Oh wait, Doritos AND Ben and Jerry's. This is gold, baby. Pure gold!

I would consider not terminating an unwanted pregnancy if someone paid my cost of living expenses during pregnancy and a hardship bonus of at least $10K; in essence, acting as a surrogate post-conception. Anything that speeds up adoption for needy parents-to-be. The only caveat is that they have to keep the child, even if it comes out sardonic and madadjusted like me.

Don't forget his "if you have IVF and accidentally get another woman's embryo she should be allowed to talk you out of it" bullshit a couple months ago.

Even when used under clinically controlled conditions, 1 in 1,000 women on the pill (one of the most effective forms of birth control) get pregnant. Multiply that out by the number of sexually active women in the U.S. and you end up with a whole lot of unplanned pregnancies. A significant portion of those will be unwanted.
Even under perfect conditions, abortion will need to be an available option. We can reduce the number, but probably never eliminate them completely. But yeah, the goal should be reduction through bc education and availability. Absolutely!

Even in some other first world countries with far lower rates of rape and very good sex ed and cheap plentiful b.c., women still need abortions sometimes. We still will need it to be legal and accessible. Reforming society on a large scale is really a separate issue.

"I don't mean to be racist, but..." and "I don't wanna sound dumb, but..." you have a new friend.

I mean, Steven Waldman isn't the President of the United States or a governor or anything like that. He's a web editor. I think that pro-choice folks should certainly push back against his ideas, but to fly into a rage as if his ramblings are a mortal threat to the legal right to abortion is a bit much in my opinion.

It just blows my mind that these people think that pregnancy is no big woop, and that apparently the ends justify the means.
Like pregnant women really are just vessels. So creepy.

How 'bout we pay them to keep their sperm to themselves?
