    I couldn't watch this, because stuff like this makes me feel woefully inadequate (and I was dog-tired and fell asleep). But when I woke up and saw that she won, and saw how happy her family was for her, I got teary-eyed. Girls kick ass. Too bad I couldn't even make it out of the school spelling bee (I got close a few times, though).

    I watched last night, and was totally proud of myself when I could spell Neufchatel, and I knew it's definition and part of speech.


    I loved Kavya's hand-spelling technique, so cute!

    I used to do spelling bees when I was younger and cherished great ambitions of this one. Turns out I'm not actually a great speller, or memorizer, but dang were they fun.

    @battleaxonista: I would watch the HELL out of some chem, bio, or physics olympiads. And math ones if they had really good announcers. Unsurprisingly, I did chem olympiads in high school, which were buckets of fun.

    I too squealed when she won. She was one of my favorites from the beginning, along with bad-ass Serena and funny Kennyi- I LOVED when he pulled out those glasses. And did anyone else notice that Kennyi's brother was gorgeous?

    I watched this last night...I really wish they would hold off on showing the words on the screen so I could play along.


    I would get halfway through the word before it would flash on the TV screen...

    I loved the Kavya and Aishwarya (3rd place) were good friends from kindergarten. Although it made Aishwarya's distress over losing all the more uncomfortable (and poignant).

    I was so proud of myself for knowing how to spell Laodicean without looking, because it's the title of a Hardy novel and I <3 <3 <3 Hardy. Most of the other words though...not so much.
