I thought I was watching the slow intro to some hot gay porn in that first scene. It wasnt so much he admired Jason as he loves Jason, or was that just my fantasy?
@Dodai: You're AMAZING! So conflicted whether "I don't want to have your babies" or the "Amuse ourselves" should be my ringtone. Thinking these might be very useful for sorting out the men in my life!
"A stupid question like that would have pissed me off before. But now, I'm untouchable." That will be my new line to answer everything: "hey, did you finish the article I asked you to do?"
"See? A question like that would have pissed me off before. But now, I'm untouchable." "What time is it?"
"See? A question like that would have pissed me off before. But now, I'm untouchable."
I love how the other actor looks genuinely alarmed. In my mind, he's actually thinking, "until when is he going to be working here? No, seriously, why is he looking at me like that?!"
I seriously think that there was just a minor car accident outside of my house, possibly involving my parked car, and I am waiting until I finish these clips to go see. I need help. And by help I mean JF's dick.
James Franco: I am attractive, tolerant of artistic ambitions and munchies, and have great bud. Why are we not having ridiculous amounts of sex right now?
@viklane: Ha! I'm with you on still wanting to go there - actually, I'd F the hell out of him! :) And I read that WSJ article several time with a serious mindset (work in finance and have to read that paper daily anyway, so it was normal for me) - but don't have enough of an understanding of performance art to really see why GH could ever be construed as art - esp compared to someone like Marina Abramović (though, I don't think he was trying to put it on the same level anyway).
So simple me just enjoys him on the show & now that I think about it, I cannot suspend disbelief - all is see is James Franco, but more b/c the writing and his performance is so hilariously bad (in such a good way)!
But I went to a talk of his & he is just one weird guy (again, in such a good way). So I'm very forgiving for things like that WSJ article. This stuff just makes me laugh! So give his GH another try - it really is hilarious!
@la vie en hypnose: Ugh, I'm SO happy he finally cut it! It doesn't look bad on GH when someone has clearly blow dried his hair, but have you seen the pics of that hair messy?! He looked like he just got out of bed and hasn't showered in days? It looked like a wig! (Go look at photos for MOCA if you want proof!)
@marin79: Yeah but I kind of like that sloppy just rolled out of bed vagabond chic which may explain my love for RPatz. But James Franco is at his finest when he's clean... it makes it all the more fun to dirty him up.
@marin79 @limber: you make good points. as for caring about the mocking, i didn't for the first thousand or so times, and it grates a little more for me coming from jezebel.
maybe it's my personal baggage. i've gotten a few too many snide remarks from theoretically feminist men in my life for watching soaps. i realize there's a lot about them that's ridiculous, but while my perspective is that of somebody who's used to it i'd argue that you could point out similar qualities about plenty of other tv programs or any number of other things.
plus, i guess i kind love the ridiculousness and i'd like to feel like i'm not the only one.
anyway, i don't mean to sound like the wet blanket person who's taking things too seriously. i've just been reading so much stuff about this in a similar tone, and i didn't think anyone would listen to my point on any other blogs i keep up with.
i hadn't watched gh in a while myself, but i started again when i realized it was available on hulu. but the clincher (announced soon after) was jonathan jackson coming back. he's a little hammy in his about-to-cry way, but he's great.
@karenjeannette001: I hear where you're coming from - but I personally haven't read or felt like I've seen any comments that I interpreted as sexist. But I'm new to watching soaps & everyone I've told has cracked up since it's so not me. I love that though! Plus, I work with almost all men & roll my eyes at plenty of shows they're obsessed with, so from my perspective, it goes both ways!
(Also, I'm guessing you're new - in case you didn't see it, there is this little arrow after each comment if you want to reply & link to the thread - that way people will be notified as to your response, etc! And welcome! :)
@karenjeannette001: Hey, I've spent plenty of time defending my Doctor Who, BSG-watching ways. So I get the love for the genre everyone else loves to mock.
But as it goes with BSG, so it goes with soaps -- you've just got to take it on the chin and shrug. I mean, it's a bit rich to be laughed at for loving David Tennant when I know for a fact this same person watches three separate CSIs and thinks Lost is the most complex and layered show TV has ever seen. (I mean, come on!)
Has anybody figured out why he's doing the soap opera??? Trying out every different style of acting? Keeping his name out there in an ironic way? Blowing my mind and keeping me intrigued? Well, I love the mystery.. but I also HATE SURPRISES!
@SuprisingSurprising: At the risk of sounding like a broken record, again, Franco stated that he's doing this as part of his next project with the artist, Carter. They did "Erased James Franco" together last year & a strange photo essay in VMan a few months ago. Both Franco & Carter are remaining coy about what kind of film project it'll be or how the soap experience plays in - it's somehow tangentially, not directly related. Franco also said he thought it seems like it would be a challenge given the soap shooting schedule & that it would be fun.
