I think I'm going on SNL strike. Their writing has been so (SO) bad lately. They are in dire need to hire a more diverse cast.
Also, it would behoove SNL to realize that pretty ladies can be funny and not just the "heehee! I'm pretty" girl standing in the corner (I say this in anticipation to Blake Lively).
One last thing: I've lost all patience for Andy Sandberg. The Digital Shorts have been the opposite of funny this season. I know I'll get a lot of hate for this, but I haven't seen anything lately from him that proves him to be a good actor/comedian/person.
@JessickerFletcher: I'll make the protest signs. What a dog, and with such talent, too. The first 3/4 of the opening credits are like 'Here's one doughy white guy... here's another.'
And the opening bit, while funny (the first time they made the joke, at least), really made me realize – why the fuck can they not get an East Asian cast member? Or a redhead? Or a black woman? Or at least a non-whip thin brunette woman? Or good writers?
@ApolloDampyre: The sad thing? I can see him actually saying that and then seeing hordes of "hipsters in their mid-twenties to early thirties" throwing themselves at him. It's also nice to hear I've got some allies out there.
@Pizza!Pizza!Pizza!: It's like their key demographic was moronic, caucasian fratboys... oh wait. And if that is true, which I suspect it is, they could at least hire some hot diversity chicks (I'll even excuse the sexism if they can finally find some funny women).
Oh, and um, Earth to SNL writers, if we all liked what moronic, caucasian fratboys liked, we'd be watching Dane Cook (and I'd be killing myself because Dane Cook and humor go together like water and oil).
I think if JGL were a puppy, I'd consider him too hyper to adopt. I would worry about him chewing all of my books and woodwork and destroying furnishings in fits of ecstatic joy.
@JessickerFletcher: Agreed -- and he was a little awkward, but I prefer a host who's so committed he's insane to the ones who hang back.
The writers thing, preach on. I'd love it if they'd hire a few of the British sketch show writers, just to break the East Coast Ivies club they've got going on and really shake things up. Like bring in some of the "Smack the Pony"-type girls. Brits: how to go wittily filthy without talking about shit or rape.
@rodmanstreet: I only made it halfway through that film (delicate sensibilities and whatnot) and I have no recollection as to where Sususudio came into that film. Care to share?
@JessickerFletcher: I was just trying to find the clip on YouTube but there isn't any decent one. Basically, he muses on Phil Collins for a few minutes as he prepares to slaughter a couple hookers. Good times.
@JessickerFletcher: I was kidding. I was implying that I, also, like to spend my Friday nights thinking about killing a hooker. It's okay. It probably would have been funnier if I repeated it a few times, but maybe not. After all, repetition can be redundant.
JGL is so high-energy, I keep thinking, "He must be great in bed."
And so we're back to where we were at the start.
I liked the Say Anything sketch, even if it may have been 20 years too late. But the anachronistic nature of it kinda made it funnier, with the cassette tapes and such.
Overall, better than last week. But that wouldn't have taken much. I loved JGL's dedication to this, even though some of the sketches were still just awful. Reba as Keenan? Really? Really?
@lalaland13: I don't know what you are talking about. I just recorded the whole show by holding up my cassette tape recorder to the television speaker. And I taped over my Casey Kasem Top-40 Countdown to do it!

"Hi. I'm Andy Sandberg. I am attractive in that way that hipsters in their mid-twenties to early thirties find attractive.

SNL = meh
JGL = awesome
JGL's tailor = bravo on the package-hugging pants. Bravo indeed....

No, but seriously, I agree on JGL's tailor.

But as a host, gosh he's sort of charming.

SNL needs to hire new writers. That is all.

I have never seen Say Anything. Partly because I am lazy, partly because high school movies give me bad flashbacks.
I do love "In Your Eyes," though. It's my go-to 80s song.
