    Massive Fail Leeds City Council (the father too "fat" to adopt). Having had a LOT of experience with a few departments of theirs, I'm glad I moved out of their juristiction. Especially considering Woodkirk High School is still open somehow.

    I'm feeling apocalyptic and full of doom tonight (just came from the Tool Academy thread). So I'll predict that high quality virtual sex & sexbots will spell the end of people being willing and able to overlook human physical flaws or engage in the give & take and compromises involved in a sexual relationship and eventually, spell the end of the civilized society.


    I mean, if you could realistically simulate having sex with Heidi Klum or Clive Owen all night, would you bother to leave your house?

    @whats_in_a_name: I imagine that while this would be the ideal situation for many of us, the whole process of finding that intelligent, attractive to you partner can be hellish for a lot of people. After getting bashed around in the dating meat market a few times, I can see a lot of them just wanting to take their toys and go home.

    I can see how health problems might affect one's ability to parent, and that weight loss solutions + kids can be very costly. That said, why deny or delay couples that are willing to adopt, given that thousands of children (millions all over the world) have abusive parents or none at all?

    @TheBluebird: I swear, fat phobia (along with transphobia) is the last frontier of "acceptable" bigotry. It's still apparently ok to discriminate based on size, even if it would be unthinkable to do so based on, say, race. It saddens me.

    @J.D.Regent: In the interview on the BBC site, he was so obviously an intelligent and caring man. It made me really sad as in the UK (and I imagine it's similar in the US), kids who grow up in care homes often have horrible lives, leave school with no qualifications, end up in jail etcetc.

    @DangerMouse: i thought it was really weird that she'd been trying to have a family with her fiancee for seven years, but she's only 25. and she's a staunch Catholic, so she won't abort, but she's, uh, pretty clearly having premarital sex. what gives?


    Kate from Jon & Kate + 8 had polycystic ovarian syndrome and she was able to conceive. but it is expensive.


    overall it's just a really sad story. i know it sounds awful, but i hope the pregnancy terminates itself, and soon. this situation doesn't seem like it can bring anything but heartache.
