Oh she was a delegate for the republicans at the convention this year. Way to make your party look bad over something so petty. Whatever moral victory you feel like you won by keeping candy away from children, you sure did give yourself, Michigan, and the republican party, a heck of a lot of bad publicity.
@shizmcnally: I'd post this if it was a Nader supporter. Why blame the child for their parents' ideology? It's like when people look down on kids who were born out of wedlock -- it's not as if a fetus just jumped into an empty vagina and said "hey, I'm camping here for nine months, suck it!"
@shizmcnally: I know I'd be pissed if it was an Obama supporter. Trying to punish small children because they don't agree with you or their parents don't agree with you is beyond super lame.
my son was obama for halloween. people loved it (even in the weird gated community where my parents live and where we trick or treated). he said "change we can belive in" and "yes we can" instead of trick or treat. i wish we lived by this wackyass broad!
Arrgh! I live in this town and this crazy lady has been all over the local news. She lives not far from my parents, who were appalled and embarrassed. Please let me just say, on behalf of the thousands of non-crazy folks who live here (Democrat and Republican alike -- yes, the Obama signs are far outnumbering the McCain signs, even in typically conservative Grosse Pointe), public sentiment has been OVERWHELMINGLY against this awful crackpot. I knew this would make the national news.
@Dearprudence: We live close-ish to her as well. It just makes me sad. That and I really do hope her neighbors are giving her the beyond cold shoulder for life now.
Ew. She's the kind of lady on the street you would avoid each year anyway because she gave out packets of candy corn, orange/black wrapped mystery candies, pennies, or Good-n-Plentys. YUCK.
If you're gonna be a bitch, don't give out candy. Damn.
@KathrynwithaY loves Joan Collins: Hey dont hate on my goodnplentys, they're delicious and entirely liberal, they're black licorice. And we all know that anything black will vote for anything else black
The woman sounds crazy, but I do hope parents from both parties tried to steer their kids away from the house when they saw the sign. Please don't force your children to interact with the crazies for a bit of candy. I have a feeling people tried to engage this idiot too much for the sake of debate.
@Katxyz: I'm glad shes a bit of a drive from where we are. I have to resist the urge to go knock on her door and tell her off. I know that would only reinforce her idea that we're all "scary" but still.... it's tempting.
@nescafe: My mom gives out those prunes. I made her promise to give out chocolate with them. She's not mean though, just overly concerned with the kiddies' digestion.
@shewar: I've done more phonebanking in the past 6 years or so than I'd like to recall. But it's fun, and I recommend it for sure! Most people are nice, and the people who are rude are pretty easy to ignore.
