Sure, you're laughing now, True Religion, but KFED IS ONTO YOU. Once he starts spreading the good word that jeans for toddlers need not cost two hundred dollars, there goes Q1 '09.
...trend stories about whether consumers will ever be duped into paying $700 for a pair of pumps again .
i still wonder how consumers got duped into paying $700 for a pair of shoes in the first place, nevermind the people who paid over $300,000 for a regular suburban 3 bedroom maybe 2 bathroom house in phoenix.
it may be tough, and there may be layoffs, but learning to live on less shouldn't be a novel concept, and if this whole terrible economy thing teaches us all how to do that, i would call it a good thing.
@rednrowdy: yep. articles like this, and the sentiment behind them, annoy the hell out of me.
i don't make a lot by american standards($22,000/year), but i get by, and it kind of annoys me to hear people talking about 'cutting back' and then when they go into detail, they're really lamenting the fact that they can no longer spend money they don't have, i.e., max out their credit cards to buy non-necessities.
that said, i know that the current economic climate has not been kind to a lot of people. i'm not blaming anyone for what has or hasn't happened, just expressing frustration with some of my acquaintances.
@morninggloria: Saks - proving they are still in touch with American reality! Maybe they will start some fear-mongering in an effort to distract us from their REAL agenda.
@GirlSailor: There was one show (I think it was Prada)a couple of years ago that featured wine-stained lips. The make-up artist did an interview about how to apply the lip stains and such to achieve the look. Personally, I think I do a nice enough job with a glass or three of wine.
Tatiana, François Nars link about having purple corpse-icle lips is broken.

@tscheese: You've never seen Nars cosmetics? They sell at Sephora. They're actually great cosmetics, moderately priced. If MAC had an older, more sophisticated sister it'd be Nars.
@ohgoodness... here come the zombies.: I was in a Sephora once in 2005. It's just not something I often think about, I guess. I'm sure I've seen Nars cosmetics on other people--and I'm sure it's lovely! But as someone who considers Wet and Wild a splurge, I doubt I'll be getting anything at Sephora in the near future.

Remember the Good Earth ? Tried to teach us the concept of hard work and the value of things. In 1950.

Not that I could have afforded something for myself last Christmas at even 75% off, but I would have managed somehow.

By the way being an avid make up wearer, I can use up a Wet n'Wild shadow in no time, but my favourite Nars shadow is 10 years old and still perfect.
