@le monde is rond: That's true, if all she needs is glasses instead of a full-on body suit made of lead to get things done, then she deserves an accolade.
But doesn't she know guys don't make passes at girls that wear glasses. In the film version of this ad she takes off her glasses, lets down her glossy hair and the boss falls in love with her.
Interesting Attorney General pick. While I do love Mr.Obama, it's a bit perplexing that he's basically vetting the entire Clinton administration for his cabinet. While this is obviously not a bad decision, the whole 'Change' rhetoric is starting to sound a lot more like rhetoric. Any one else a tad confused?
@lastbroadcast: @La Chica Lucy: I think it's hard to be 'changie' when you are the 'changiest' thing that's happened to your party in a while. There are certainly qualified newbies out there but we know Obama likes to surround himself with the best and the brightest, maybe that means some of the old crowd? Or a lot of the old crowd?
@stacyinbean: Excellent point. And, as I said, I don't feel any of his choices thus far have been poor ones. It just feels a little weird, I guess... seeing some of the same names from the past crop up again. I love Hillary (my state Senator) but one of the reasons I voted for Obama in the primaries was I'm kind of tired of the same people controlling our country for decades. I didn't want another Clinton administration (nothing against him; he was the first President I voted for and I think he was a good leader) almost as much as I didn't want another Bush administration. Okay, I REALLY didn't want another Bush Admin, but I guess I just expected a few more fresh, or maybe even Republican, faces. I hope I'm making sense, as I really need to eat. Chili, here I come!
@lastbroadcast: I think the analysis that I've been hearing is essentially that he doesn't want to pull a Jimmy Carter, or Deval Patrick where you come in preaching a lot of change and disregard the old guard and established people. Veterans might be a little stuck, but they're useful.
@La Chica Lucy: For a week I was pissed about it, then I decided that we do need people with experience with the White Houste in or near the White House.
@Rose.Selavy.Needs.A.Drink: Can Sarah Palin be in a helicopter directly above, trying to shoot the caribou, only she misses and hits Stevens instead? Can she? Oh, and then her helicopter malfunctions and crashes, while the caribou graze on whatever it is they graze on, with that bored bovine look on their faces? Cuz that would definitely do it for me!
@Rose.Selavy.Needs.A.Drink: ABC news reports that he just officially lost, you'll be thrilled to know.
I personally don't get any schadenfreude out of this, since I grew up in AK and while he was always corrupt and everyone knew it, he really did do what he was supposed to, to wit, bring home the bacon. All eras end, though. I hope Begich hooks his constituents up as much as Stevens did, and without the graft and the crazy republicanism.
The HuffPo article was interesting. Are there enough powerful, moderate Republicans to pull the GOP back from its basest base (i.e. the cray-cray racists/homophobes/ignorant fearful fucks and/or the cray religious folks) to a more reasonable, business-oriented small government party? Will the wing-nuts, who don't think the party in conservative enough, break away? I know a lot of Republicans who were so turned off by McCain's campaign. They are fed up with the nut-jobs who form their so-called precious base. On the other hand, I work with very conservative people and a lot of the issues that the base hold dear are usually issues they cannot let go off (abortion, gay rights, etc.)
I am looking forward to watching the party implode, the same way I look forward to a savory steak dinner. Mmmm.
@La Chica Lucy: Watching the GOP implode would be better than a having filet the size of my head, washed down with a lovely bottle of red and followed by cheesecake and hot sex. Which is to say, pretty damn good.
@Lymed: I have now eaten and am no longer hungry, and, due to your remark, am also no longer horny. The thought of a lover singing show tunes cracks me up, but teh socks? No, no, no, no! A thousand times, no! Anthing but the socks!
Yes, I have issues. And some of them include black socks on naked men. *shudder*
@Lymed: As long as it's not Spitzer! I'm thinking maybe Olbermann. He seems like he could sing, and afterward he can tell me stories about subbing for McCain on Letterman.
That photograph of Sawyer and Dupre makes me feel funny. It's like she could be sitting and posing with any foreign leader. Who gives a fuck what this chick has to say?

I dunno, women can be so incompetent sometimes. Most secretaries have to wear helmets while using typewriters.
