I have NEVER given KFed a pass. To me he's always been nothing more than a rent boy. He thought he was doing well with his first baby mama because she was on Moesha (I think it was Moesha) but he really hit the jackpot when he swung his dick Brit-Brit's way. The poor thing was so fucked up, she probably liked the idea that she was 'stealing' KFed. It probably helped her to validate herself as a independent woman. No wonder she broke down when she realized that the person she had alienated so many people for wasn't worth shit. I really could care less about Ms. Spears but I do feel sorry for her and wish her luck in her recovery. From what I can see, the best thing for her would be to move back to Louisiana, raise her kids and forget about the rest. She's got enough to last forever.

I don't have children and never will so surely some will think this is "judgey" but you know what, it all comes down to poor choices.

Britney CHOSE to have this man as the father of her children. She had a hurried courtship with him (if you can even call what they had a courtship), barely got to know him, married him too fast, and got pregant too fast...TWICE.

If he's a shit father, she shares some of the blame...just like any one else who chooses to have kids with a deadbeat assbag.

@clevernamehere: Uh yeah she totally does. These are the risks of rushing into having kids with someone you barely know. I didn't say Kevin wasn't responsible for his own shitty fathering. I said Brit isn't off the hook here as she could have made a better, more thoughtful choice about who she brought children into the world with.

Looking back she was seemingly pretty cavalier about the whole thing...

Seriously, neither of them should be getting parent of the year awards any time soon. To be brutally honest I think they're prime examples of people who just shouldn't have had children, or at least not at the stages they were at in their lives, mentally. K-Fed may be useless but I agree, this post just comes across as ''all men are shit!!!'' Britney isn't, in any way, a poster child for being the best parent either.

@Calraigh: I wholeheartedly agree with you. However, no matter what, Britney received a hideous drubbing by pretty much everyone. Meanwhile, Kevin, who was certainly thought to be an absolute turd, all of a sudden was elevated in status b/c he finally showed up. It's fairly ridiculous.

It might be a combination of cultural expectations of motherhood, where anything short of Madonna--by that I mean Mary, not Madge--doesn't cut it, and equally low expectations of fatherhood, in which dads get props if they don't leave...forget about abuse/neglect/indifference. He stayed. Gud 4 him.

I think the point about the double standard is completely valid, but I also don't think it's really any more appropriate to make assumptions about Kevin Federline as a father because his three year old kid doesn't always pay attention or follow directions in class. That sounds like most little kids I've ever known, to varying degrees. Maybe he's a crappy father and maybe he isn't, but that quote isn't really evidence of either.

As a mama who's had some difficulties in the past, I feel for Britney. I also feel nail-spittin' mad at the idea that Kevin gets a free ride from being called a class-A jerkwad. Not only was Britney coming unglued, he appeared to do nothing but smoke Newports at the gas station and go party with his friends.

Fathers are regularly lauded for showing up, going to the store, cooking them dinner, dropping off the kiddos at school, etc...and yet, they are SUPPOSED TO! It's their fucking job, too.

Meanwhile, as a mama, you're not only expected to do so, but any slight change in the order of things makes you a BAD mama. It's total & utter bullshit and not only does it make me angry, but crestfallen that the expectations of women are still so goddamn stilted.

@rosasparks: I hear you. But Britney's illness was far more serious than reported in the media. I mean, I've got friends in Social Services, and from what they can tell, Britney had to be in pretty deep to lose custody of her children. The father was naturally next in line to get custody.
