Has anyone else ever read a Candace Bushnell book? Unbelievably bad writing. And I'm not just snarking on chick lit - I love a lot of books that would fall into that category. But Bushnell, eeeyuck. It makes you wonder how she ever got published. #thecarriediaries
@Lazy Line Painter Jane: I had the misfortune of reading her book 'Four Blondes.' I still rate it as the worst book I've ever read. It was like Sex and the City...but with blondes...and all of them seemed like caricatures of the author. No creativity, extremely poor writing, terrible characters. I was appalled that so many people have read that crap.
This is a really clever book design! I saw Chip Kidd speak as part of a lecture last night and he talked about how difficult it can be to design books. Brava to whoever did this! #thecarriediaries
@Mary McCarthyite: I hope you've read The Cheese Monkeys! I have next to no talent for visual art, but that book made me both laugh hysterically and appreciate graphic design. So kudos to Chip Kidd. #thecarriediaries

I am single and I loved Sex and the City. Nothing would ever make me lust after the ridiculously expensive and unfeasibly high heels but then I never ended up looking like an American quarterback with my padded shoulders, despite watching Dynasty. The Patricia Field fashions usually made me laugh rather than feel pangs of envy and it was clear that SJP was the producer since she ALWAYS had the male guest stars falling madly in love with her character on first sight. However, I can identify with quite a lot of the storylines touching on dating and relationships and often re-watch the series whenever it is shown again on the television. I don't understand why people take it so seriously. For me it was just an amusing romp with some witty one-liners, pretty frocks and the occasional keen insight. India is hardly Maoist China, when everyone was forced to wear the same drab clothing and therefore ripe for takeover by Carrie's obsession with colourful fashions. Rest assured, educated middle-class Indian women are just as capable as their Western counterparts of determining for themselves what constitutes a suitable role model.
They should live by the gospel of Flight of the Conchords. That's what I try to do.
In fact, I'm thinking of becoming a part time model, but I won't quit my day job. Oops, sorry can't help but stare at your sugar lumps. Damn last night there were too many dicks on the dance floor. When Jemaine broke up with me, I got hurt feelings, I got hurt feelings...
Did single women who liked to drink and wear heels have a name before "Carrie Bradshaw?" Or were they not worth a name because they'd eventually grow out of it when they found a nice man and had a few baybeez?
I'm sorry, I'm sure this a very insightful post, but all I can see is the GIANT FLOWER. Is that an actual costume from the show? Because it is literally bigger than her head!
Women in Mumbai are actually very fashion minded, so it doesn't surprise me that they would like Sex And The City. I don't think most people realize the amount of wealth in Mumbai. It makes sense to me that they would aspire to be a Carrie Bradshaw.

Plus, she didn't even move to NY until after high school. What's this going to be about, her Jordache phase at Toledo Central High?
