I don't have any problem with ghostwriters writing "autobiographies" for the famous but far from erudite. What I do object to is the likes of Madonna and Geri Halliwell assuming they can write children's novels simply because they are famous in another field altogether.Even more galling is that the likes of Katie (Jordan)Price has made millions in the UK flogging fiction she did not write herself. People buy this rubbish even though the only thing Katie contributes to the completed work is her name as author on the cover.

The Republican Party doesn't support capitalism, either. If they truly believed in the free market determining everything, then they would abandon any and all moral issues, because, in theory, the free market will decide what's morally best for its citizens. Individuals pursuing their own best interests will lead to the collective best interest.

It's complete fuckery, that statement, because the Republican party has entrenched itself too deeply into moral regulation to call themselves "pure" capitalists.

Garsh, so after those meano liberal bloggers (blogs? blog-people? Oh garsh, I don't know) decided to totally SMEAR me and my FAMILY, I decided to tell MY side of it. Leave my family alone! Unless I'm using them to further MY agenda! Don't use them for yours! The whole rape kit thing? I didn't READ it before signing it! What you expect me to read everything? Garsh, what do you think I am? An intellectual?

Now that the SOCIALISTS are in charge things are going to be BAD. Life is awful in states with high taxes (ahem, the northeast), states with LOW taxes always have the best schools and the lowest rates of pregnancy! Because they're god fearin'. And ABSTINENT.

It is head-exploding that the party of self-proclaimed religious Christians is the party of capitalism. How does that compute? What about the beatitudes? @morninggloria: My boyfriend and I discuss this a lot. We both grew up in very conservative Christian homes. We are now both liberal. Liberal ideals - helping the poor, elderly, and sick are much more Christian than so called conservative ideas.

@Little Green Frog: I know that there are some segments of devout religious people who try to justify wealth as being moral (also the Catholic sect of Opus Dei), but it's such unbelievable fuckery. It appeals to the mouth breathing masses because people WANT to believe that they can achieve a false sense of moral superiority while living a life of luxury. Any idiot who reads the Gospels can see that Jesus was totally not in favor of pursuing earthly wealth.

@pinkyBella: I was raised in a very Catholic house (not at the no-birth-control-level, but close), and went on to go to a big Catholic school, and my family and many people at that university emphasized the social responsibility aspects of Christianity/Catholicism rather than the social judging hobby of some religious folk. I don't know what's so seductive about using religion as a means to justify hate, but a lot of fucking people do it.

@morninggloria: no. Have you ever been to the Vatican? My friend went as part of her honeymoon last summer (she is also a former Catholic) and she was like the wealth amassed there was "grotesque." Apparently the tour guide told that the vatican (among other riches) have a large collection of this rare purple marble that if they sold it would feed the world several times over. my friend was like, "so? ...sell it!"

@bluebears: I actually sang for the Pope in college. My college's liturgical choir had a couple of performances at Vatican masses during an Italy tour. I felt pretty dirty about the whole thing (this was at the beginning of my Catholic choirgirl downfall) so I brought a bunch of thong underpants to the papal blessing. I still have a few pair of the Blessed Thongs, and I often wear them immediately before fornicating.

I read somewhere that Palin's book will discuss her family as well as the campaign which is...awful. When is she going to stop using her family, especially her infant son, as a political prop? You can't attack the press for covering your family when you put them front and center like this.

I told my mom last week that I'm a Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay Rights, Pro-Sex Education, Agnostic/Borderline Atheist, liberal from a Blue State and I have better family values than these people. For starters, my family drama isn't lining some kitty's litterbox on daily basis.

Liz, your father has spent his career tarnishing the reputation of the United States of America. He deserves his comeuppance. His complicity in ensuring torture was kept on the table means he threw away 200-plus years of American democratic principles, by applying an unfair standard to the enemies of this country. He has opened up a Pandora's box, whereby those groups who hate us will now feel free to take American citizens and subject them to depredations that make beheading seem like a clean and easy thing.

This country was founded upon the ideals of freedom, and the right to justice. If we renounce those ideals, even a little, the hypocrisy comes back to bite us in ways that make our world a more horrific place.

You even made your own daughter campaign for a party that would gladly have her and others like her stripped of every single civil right imaginable.
