    This Polanski case no longer concerns whether or not Samantha wants the case to be dropped, it's about the act of drugging and raping a minor in addition to fleeing the country. I don't care if it happened five minutes ago, or fifty years ago, this guy is a criminal. What message would we be sending to the world if we let this pedo go unpunished? Rape a girl and she'll probably drop the charges thirty years later? #samanthageimer

    I have no particular affections for Reese Witherspoon, but the Tennessee resident is making more assumptions that they blame Reese for. All she alludes to is that her garden reminds her of her home. The responder is the one making links to farming and country bumpkin. I don't assume people with chickens and cucumbers are dumb, but clearly they do. #samanthageimer

    @AllieCaulfield: It would be illegal for her settlement with him to compel her to formally petition the court that his charges be dropped. People can weigh in against Polanski all they want, but all the hinting that this woman is being disingenuous is not fair. #samanthageimer

    @Freddie DeBoer: You don't find it at all bizarre that Polanski's victim showed up at the HBO film premiere of Roman Polanski: Wanted & Desired & posed happily (see photo) in front of poster? Geimer is publicly requesting to be left alone?

    I went to school in Nashville right down the road from Green Hills. Let me tell you, there is nothing resembling chickens there. There is a swanky mall and tons of houses with perfectly manicured lawns and huge garages. Maybe a puppy, if you're lucky, and it will be purebred with a collar on. My best friend still lives in Green Hills and her neighbors were recently upset by her parking a car halfway on the grass, halfway on the driveway in the front yard. They said it looked "hick." I'm not sure if this is the same Green Hills where Reese was chasing chickens in a diaper or what...? #samanthageimer

    Jesus, Geimer drew the short end of the stick here. Not only was she raped as a minor, she was raped as a minor by an incredibly famous person, so her name was made public and dragged through the mud as a child. And not only was that person incredibly famous, he skipped out on his bail, ensuring that the legal case against him would go on for years and years, and always be in the press, instead of just getting buried in the memory of the 1970s. And not only did this case last three decades, but Polanski is somewhat talented, and has amassed a huge amount of supporters in the industry, so Geimar has to watch otherwise lovely people talk about how what happened to her wasn't exactly rape, and how what happened to her was "ancient history".

    No wonder she just wants it all to go away.

    This just makes me want to see Polanski so much more... he hasn't stopped victimizing her since she was thirteen.

    @HidingInCanada: Very well put. This is just another horrifying aspect--if he'd just faced up to it and done his time, she could be living in peace and he could be living wherever he wants. While he'd still be a scumbag, we wouldn't have to listen to discussions of how he should be exonerated because he makes good movies. #samanthageimer

    I'm not a huge fan of angie or anything but this is the most pointless hurtful thing to bring up when she obviously misses her mother very much, more to the point if a father figure slept with his partners 16 year old daughter, even if she did "seduce him" (whatever that means) he's the one that the media should go after - but of course she will be strung up again as a "home-wrecking harlot, even as a teenager" or some crap #samanthageimer

    @TexasCrude: Agreed. While I have a lot of sympathy for her for being raped, I don't have a lot of sympathy for her being dragged through the media spotlight now. She put her name out there, she granted interviews, and she enjoyed some of the "fame" that being raped by a famous person brought her.

    It's hard to put the genie back in the bottle when you let it out. #samanthageimer

    A terrible thing happened to her, and I can certainly understand wanting to move on and put it behind you, but I can't see attending the premiere of a movie about that terrible thing being a good way to dissuade additional public and media attention. #samanthageimer
