    I wonder if someone needs to tell Nike that a background check is only meaningful if the subject has actually gotten caught doing something.

    Unless by background check he means shady-private-eye-type investigating, in which case I will proffer that they seem to have not done a great job.

    Brunch is the best thing in the world, ever. It's breakfast food, but with gossip and champagne. I would be highly suspicious of anyone who was anti-brunch.

    @GreyEminence: Helena Christensen is my kind of gal. I never use text speak when sending texts and it grates when some of my contemporaries do. Reading "R U nearby?" on a first date for example does not bode well if it comes from a middle-aged man.

    @Jenna: My aunt's Italian partner hates my shoes so whenever I visit (I might wear a shitty pair of shoes for the occasion) he insists on buying me a pair. Last year he bought me these amazing red Ferragamo heels and they are soooo comfortable. I absolutely have no shame in second-hand shoes either! I bought a super cool pair of Prada heels for 40 bucks from eBay. At least they're broken in :-)

    @Penny: Secondhand shoes FTW! This may be the reason I didn't have them reinstate my eBay account after it got shut down for potentially being hacked. :P

    (BTW, you might want to check out Ferragamo's book Shoemaker of Dreams, it's interesting stuff.)

    @Penny: That's how I feel about it. The best is when someone buys them from a department store, scratches the soles, realizes they don't fit, and then can't return them. I will happily own the cast-offs of the stupid rich.

    Working for free? Until LiLo also has to take a forced furlough, pick up the workloads of all the other "artistic directors" who got canned in the first round of layoffs, and forego medical benefits and matching 401K contributions while being told daily she's just lucky she has a job, she'd better not come crying to me.
