  • "Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington would go to big designers and say: 'If you don't want Naomi to be in your show, then I don't want to be in it'...Women of colour are not a trend...That's the bottom line." — Naomi Campbell, still fighting for the cause of models of color. [Vogue UK]

  • And this is why I can't get enough of wunderkind designer Chris Benz: "Fall was kind of inspired by the time when I was staying in the 8th arrondissement in Paris...and there were these amazing old women with their slips showing, who would wear a hat from 1952 that they just pulled out. It was very Carol Channing. This will be known as the granny collection!" (Though Benz told me at his presentation on Monday night that the collection was inspired by The Royal Tenenbaums, but whatevs.) [Fashion Week Daily]

<![CDATA[ANTM: Saleisha Wins, Big Whoop]]>
This was the most boring final three on America's Next Top Model ever. I just couldn't find it in me to pull for anybody, and I live for this shit, you know? That's why I bothered to live blog it. But now that Saleisha has won, it'll be interesting to see how Tyra will respond to the fact that the girl shouldn't have been allowed into the competition in the first place (we'll get to that in a minute). Anyway, what saved the finale from being a total bust was that runway show, with no audience other than the 500 Chinese extras. The panel walked in like they were royalty: The TYRAnny Dynasty. And how absolutely delicious was it when Chantal knocked over that guy on stilts? And then was applauded for not turning around to check if he was okay? It gave a whole new meaning to when TyTy told the girls that they'd have to "stomp to the death." To the death of that poor Chinese man. Anyway, clip above, and Wendysgate after the jump.

OK, just one thing before we get to Saleisha. Let's discuss Jenah's feet, because they grossed me out.

I just have to say that I'm at once relieved and disappointed this wasn't "crowned" America's Next Top Model.

Okay, so Saleisha is our winner, and she'll go on to have a career that includes about 13 "My Life as a CoverGirl" spots, appearances on Tyra, and appearances on future cycles of ANTM — except she's already appeared made appearances on Tyra and past cycles of ANTM.

Also, she already had a career doing commercials. Here she is in a Wendy's spot.

It's a big deal because according to rule #10 in the terms of eligibility for ANTM:

You must NOT have previous experience as a model in a national campaign within the last five (5) years (including, but not limited to, appearances on television and print advertisements).
Oops on Tyra's part.

But whatever, rule #12 says that you must be in good mental health, and there have been some crazy bitches on the show. Rule #8 said that applicants must be at least 5'7" tall, and Eva was only 5'6.5". Oh, and you also have to be a woman-born-woman, which means no trannies or drag queens. But we all know how that turned out before.
