What I think is absolutely hysterical in a selfish and schadenfreude way is that there are no positive reviews of Wolverine. There are apparently a few neutral ones out there, but NO ONE LIKES IT. That means it'll probably bomb at the box office. And maybe... just maybe... we can stop with the Wolverine obsession. Of all the X-Men characters, there are three I do not really find interesting. They are Cyclops, Emma Frost and Wolverine. AND THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. No offense, fans, they are just not my cup o' tea.
So I experienced a bit of glee when I heard this. I'm a bad person.
Honestly, I think it's for the best that Madonna was denied the adoption. The entire process was turned into a media circus, and the little girl already has a family taking care of her. While of course I would love for any less fortunate child to be adopted and cared for, this was not the right way to go about it.
Wait, what stupid copyright law is this? I can give everything I buy away...my clothes, a car, MUSIC. If I bought it and give the original (and not a copy) away, then why is that illegal?
I will never, ever understand why one person's misfortune makes others happy. It's not like Madonna was denied entry into a club or buying a coop in New York or something, this was a child that she clearly had a great desire to adopt. I'm sure this is devastating to her.
And really people, it is virtually impossible to adopt a child that does not have some family that either does or would love it; grandparents, siblings, even non custodial parents. Love isn't the issue, it's whether this family has any legal rights to keep the child from being adopted, and has the means to take care of them.
I'm not debating the merits of Madonna adopting this particular child but the argument that she shouldn't be attemtping to get her bebcuase she has grandparents is ridiculous.
1. Under U.S. law, she can only adopt and bring back to the U.S. a child who meets a strict definition of "orphan." A child who has living family who has challenged the adoption and expressed a desire to continue contact with the child does not meet this definition. This requirement is in place to protect children from child-trafficking and other unethical practices.
2. In many countries, what we call "orphanages" function as a sort of long-term foster care where a family with financial difficulties can place a child for care and education when they are young. It is not an unusual (or new) situation. It is entirely possible that a child in an orphanage is not so much an orphan as a resident of that facility with family who has every intention that the child will return to them when he/she is older. I don't know that this is the situation in this case, but it certainly is a common practice in some countries.
@vivianthelibrarian: Giving a purchased CD away is legal and always has been. The debate is over digital format and if the same law applies to 'virtual' music files. I've followed the whole debate for years since I'm a musician, I don't have a personal life anyway and I occasionally need a good excuse to drink.
Listening to Gordon Lightfoot, however, should be illegal and carry the harshest penalties.

As I much as I hate this douche.... This is AMERICA, it is his right to have a gun last time I checked the Constitution. If he had a license, why the hubub?
