So that's why Malin Akerman is famous (or more accurately semi-famous)! She always seems to be mentioned in reviews even when her role is tiny and I never knew why.
The storyline I'm waiting for - Don finds out he's got some kid from a past affair, Gray Flannel Suit style.
This show loves to borrow from its literary contemporaries - WHICH I LOVE. Though, sometimes I can't tell Pete Campbell and Frank Wheeler apart.

@ShanaElmsford: Damn. Well played, Alohamaid. (Oh, yes, indeed. I fall for a cheap rhyme quicker than I jump to ungenerous conclusions. That's just how I work.)
I watched this last night ( I am so mad I don't have cable) and I thought she was a lot like January Jones, with an accent. Although, I do think she is a better actress. I was actually impressed with the back and forth she and Don had in the hallway. On a personal note, one of my best friend's name is Sunni, and I've never met another, so her name makes me smile.
@JessaFields: True, but after the last season ended, perhaps he's feeling more guilt because she's knocked up and confronted him about his cheating? I find it interesting that she's the FIRST woman that looks anything like Betty.
@BeckySharper: Yeah, but she was more like a budget version of Betty. Not quite of the same social status, or attitude. The whole bit of "I could've been a model, but I'm not" whereas Betty actually was at one point. And notice how passive Don was throughout the whole thing? This was nothing like his affairs with Midge, Rachel or Bobbie.
I think Don is genuinely attracted to strong women. Yet he's in love with Betty, a submissive woman in many ways, though that seems to be changing.
@BeckySharper: I thought it was the reason Don didn't seem very into her and didn't pursue her. To me he seemed rather meh about it all. Usually the women he pursues for affairs are strong and independent, with dark hair.
@Hana Maru: I thought it wasn't her looks that kept Don from not being really into her, but that she seemed too good. But once he found out she was engaged, she became a bad girl.
@Penny: It'd be really fascinating to see what Don and Betty were like when they first met. I know when we saw the flashback last season of Don telling Anna about Betty, you could tell there was something about Betty that made Don fall in love with her. He was excited. There was a passion in him when he talked about her. And maybe he married Betty believing she'd become someone like Midge, or Rachel or Bobbie, but didn't.
@hovy:
I thought she was Betty if Betty worked hard and didn't have much money. She probably comes from background similar to Don's, but hasn't lost the accent. Yes, she looks like Betty, but the way she put herself together..you could tell she works, she was a little moist around the edges, which is normal, but is distinct from Betty. It was most telling when she started stripping and every layer was like an attempt at a Betty and a big fail, and she didn't know it, but you could see that Don was comparing. And that, of course, made him aloof, which made him more attractive to her.
@hovy: Also, I think Don's attraction to strong women comes from unresolved issue with his birth mother. And I think that's why we saw him imagining his birth the way he did. It wasn't necessarily what happened, but what Don believes happened. That his mother was this strong individual, threatening to cut his father's dick off and "fry it in hog fat." That she was in control when it came time to negotiate the price of sex.
Then there's also the role of Anna in Don's life to consider. How much influence did Anna have in Don's attraction to strong women?
@Penny: Don likes his women to be compartmentalized into the roles they play for him. Remember when Betty bought the sexy bikini and he shamed her for it? When she wanted very badly to resume her modeling career and he sabotaged it without her knowledge? He wants her to be an idealized mother figure, and he also wants worldly, ambitious women on the side.
@dkissam: Hmmm... I think you touch upon something interesting with the Dick & Betty merged remark. That what we saw was a version of Don & Betty that was actually Dick & Shelley (it was Shelley, right?). Perhaps that is why Don referred to his actual birthdate. He changed from Don to Dick, and perhaps that may explain how passive he was.
And even more curious is how different he was with this flight attendant than with Rachel, who he tried to regress back into Dick for, but had to continue being Don for appearances sake.
And that is the absolute last time I ever want to hear "Mad Men" and "Entourage" in the same sentence. You can't compare the brilliance of the former with the schlock that is the latter.
@LaComtesse: Did you notice how all the women on Mad Men are like character on Sex and the City? Peggy is becoming a Miranda, Joan is a Samantha, Betty is a Charlotte...just goading you.
