There are some charming comments on that Cosmo/Scarlett post on E! Including one from Serge with his clone-tastic theory.

I can't believe that the commenters are arguing that Cosmo has every right to fabricate an interview and attribute it to someone, and that SJ is just "whining" and should suck it up.

Perhaps someone should publish a bunch of quotes by them and they can see if they like it...

@sumerfish: I have a hunch that the interviews' answers are taken from other interviews and quotes - so the stars may have in fact, said these things, but probably in an entirely different context.

Satire is protected speech, outright misrepresentation is fraud and libel.

Maybe Cosmo interviewed the Fake Airbrushed Zombie-Eyed Barbie-Skinned Bizarro ScarJo on that cover and not the actual human one who really looks very nice most of the time.

That would explain a lot, actually. Cosmo gets all its material from interviewing Scary Faux Barbie Zombies from Bizarro World.

Fact checkers - Heard of em?

When I was a Contrib. Editor, I had a press release attributed to my byline as a full review by the Managing Ed. - it went to press - and I told them if it happened again, they had 2 choices:

1. Get a lawyer

2. Print a retraction and get me a cashiers' check.

Libel with a side of fraud. I called the product vendor (who was also a new advertiser) and let them know that too.

Early in his movie career, when he was breaking into the big time, I had a lot of respect for Will Smith. Now, I haven't a clue what's happened, but I just don't think much of him anymore. I might take the quote at face value from Heidi and Spencer, but Will Smith isn't a total idiot. I presume he was exaggerating for comic effect; unfortunately, since braindead celebrities do exist, the joke doesn't come across when written down.

That quote of his from that story: "It's cool to have the goal of being the biggest movie star in the world..." Really? He, at some point, has had that ambition? Why wouldn't you just aim to be the greatest actor you can be, or choose the best roles?
