    @keldo: someone stole my cell phone, AT THE LIBRARY of all places, so I bought a Moto Q on ebay for $45. This included a car charger and extended battery. I was quite pleased with myself. But no so much pleased that my $400 phone (not even an iPhone, psh) was stolen, bishes and hoes.

    @keldo: Recently I dropped my phone into a portapotty. And it was uh...caught up on something so it didn't sink. So I could retrieve it but I didn't want to. But I also didn't want to buy a new one so I did.


    My DH went into full electronics cleansing and sterilization mode and I now I have what is probably the cleanest cell phone on earth. The hinges are a little loose from his forcing alcohol wipes through them, but the phone is rescued.


    And that is what the recession means to me.

    Seriously? I mean I realize it sucks that the girl's phone broke, but come on...electronics and water do not mix. Perhaps leave your iPhone inside, if you knew it was a pool party and kids were pushing each other in the pool. I kinda thought JJ was being a little harsh telling her to "grow up"...I mean seriously. A pool party. People are allowed to do silly, harmless things once in a while in a party setting and not necessarily be immature.

    @onestrawplz: Have you ever seen kids and their technology, though, nowadays? I ate dinner in a restaurant the other night where three young girls (maybe 17 or 18) sat around a table silently, ate with one hand and texted on their phones the ENTIRE TIME with the other. Truly weird. Unless maybe they were texting each other?

    @Hamsterpants: True, it's becoming an obsession, and I admit I'm kind of attached to the Blackberry myself (I'm 20, so I am one of those kids you're talking about, heh). I think my generation has a problem with face to face interaction. I know I don't even like using the phone, I'd rather text people, and it's really bad.


    I'm also painfully shy, so that's probably the reason.

    @greensprout: That makes sense, but htat's not really how I interpreted it. The girl said something like "I pushed her in the pool because it was a pool party, and other people were doing it" and JJ basically said "you shouldn't push her in the pool, grow up." Normally she's amusing, but that comment just made her sound like such a killjoy.


    Also, to the girl that pushed the other girl in the pool....iPhones are what, $200 or $300? Babysit for a few hours, ya cheapo.

    @feministabroad: Decisions I made in high school about how I would parent did come true. Which is why my fourth grader is one of the only kids without a cell phone at school. How much do these kids need to be in contact with people?

    That is awesome. But this is the stupidest small claims case I've seen thus far (which says a lot), and really makes me feel validated in my purchase of a $15 cell phone (which still works about a year after I bought it).
