Honestly? What crossed my mind was that she had been pregnant, but decided to end the pregnancy, and that somehow that news had gotten out. Which would obviously be pretty much the biggest kind of hypocrisy ever, and would be scandalicious.

But it NEVER occurred to me that she was currently pregnant and decided that should stop her from holding office. Jesus.

BTW, the college health center line made me snarf my water.

Also, Rick Sanchez completely missed the point. Sarah Palin is resigning because Barack Obama is making her take federal money. And she is making the brave choice not to spend it on herself, or for the people of Alaska. Spending money to do your job is wasteful, so she's gonna let the Lieutenant Governor do that.

Maybe she can't stand being one of the only politicians in the country treated like Paris Hilton instead of, um, old white male governor no one's ever heard of? Okay, okay, so she is an idiot and ran for VP, and in some ways she and certain members of her extended family have reveled in the attention, but still - political paparazzi and celeb paparazzi are different animals, and being ready for or courting one type isn't the same as dealing with the other.

@HeatherNumber1: I don't understand. Resigning before fulfilling a single term is a Paris Hilton-y move (IMO). Unless she is going for Stevens' Senate seat (and her AK popularity is so high she just has to avoid the dead hookers and small boys) - I don't get how this move isn't putting her firmly into the cushy, non-serious poli-debutante role. Which would be celebrity not 'Meet the Press". Again, I don't understand?

Damn. My health center nurses always asked if my boyfriend was abusing me. I never got the "Maybe you're pregnant" question.

For what ever reason she gives, I'm just happy she's leaving. Let's all just be happy she's leaving...

Hortense, we may have gone to the same college. Actually, it's probably a requirement at all colleges.

When I went I had to emphasize that no, I had not had any sex in the last three months. Or ever. But still no period. I all but had to scream "NO ONE WANTS ME!" to get them to believe me.

Yeah, I doubt Palin is preggers. That's not a reason to resign. That's a joyful occasion, even if its your teen daughter. Unless she was pregnant with Levi Johnston's baby.
