My family owned a miniature pot bellied pig. We had her for 6 years, and Princess was the most demanding pet we ever had. If you pick up a pig and it does not wish to be held, it squeals like nobodys business. I assume this is amplified as you try to shove it into one of those pet carrying purse things. Pigs root at your ankles with their noses, and it hurts more than you would think. Also, they are only cute little piglets for a short period of time. Ours got to be pretty big in the end, and got a lot more barnyard-looking over time.
@Tredwina: I think she got one of those new, itty-bitty pigs that are all trendy right now. They are "teacup" pigs that only get to be about 12 - 16 inches high...but they still get to 65 pounds. I'd like to see her try and carry that around in a purse.
I think pigs are cute, but I just don't see them as inside pets. They are way too smart to just keep inside.
Sharon Stone is seriously over-romanticizing old Hollywood, or she's watched too many black and white movies. In addition to wearing hats and driving cars, men also spoke condescendingly to women, expected them to stay home and make breakfast, and thought smacking a mouthy woman in the face with half a grapefruit was a hilarious movie gag.
@willwriteforfood: I second that. How 'bout that first scene in Philadelphia Story, where Cary Grant lays Katharine Hepburn out flat on the ground with a punch to the face?
Maybe Stone and I have different definitions of "chivalrous."
@willwriteforfood: Um, I dunno, maybe I'm used to the comedies like "My Man Godfrey" or "It Happened One Night" in which the women are snappy and witty, and the men give them wit right back.
@willwriteforfood: Sharon is a wannabe. I like real, true old fashioned men who still protect a woman with their shotguns and don't let them get involved in the dirty game of politics, and they still want wives and mistresses, which I think is just swell.
I stopped once to rescue a kitten in the road, and it ended up being the cat my passenger needed to make him happy. So, Bruno, if it is your cat I hope you step up and accept it. We just figured that God=or=whoever dropped that kitten in our way and, if we didn't accept it, the next pet suggestion could be an elephant. Reallly, don't push it. It's hard to dodge an elephant.
@xay: Ain't that the truth.
Booster seats and infant/toddler car-seats take up a LOT of room.
And those suckers are heavy and a pain to move around.
In my state, the new law is that kids up to 8yrs/4'9" must ride in booster seats.
Its (maybe) safer, but its not convenient at all. And has def. hampered our ability to car-pool with other families.
I've wondered how people with large families manage to travel in my state. Do they take two vans/cars wherever they travel? Yikes.
@fluxus flucker: Yep, even one car seat in the back takes up a lot of room. I've been in the back seat of freinds' cars and their kid's car seat makes it uncomfortable for two adults in the back seat with them.
I do appreciate Heidi Klum saying that they have to think about that kind of stuff. It makes her more awesome.
Oh, Sharon Stone--romanticizing men being able to smack any dame they want on the ass? It's great when they stand up when you come in the room? Why, because you've got a vagina? And since when have men (and women) stopped smacking each other playfully on the ass...if they actually know each other as lovers or friends. This whole thing boggles the mind.

As much as I can't stand PETA, they're right about the Hilton thing. Her main interest in animals is as accessories, and she'll toss them away (into closets, etc.) when she's tired of them. Didn't her maid say that there's excrement and urine all over her house?
I was appalled at hearing she is buying this poor, innocent, helpless pig. I sent a e-mail of complaint to the seller for being so irresponsible/greedy in selling to her. If anyone else is interested in letting the seller know how disgusting this is, the e-mail address is: royaldandie01@netscape.net.
@smizmar: The only thing about that PETA statement is, I feel like every time PETA say something, 90% of the population rolls their eyes and thinks "whatever, crazy pants." So I agree with what they're saying, but I don't think their message actually affected Paris and may have even made her think "Oh PETA's after me... well, everyone knows they're crazy, no big deal"
Tilda Swinton signs a petition to prevent Donald Trump from building a golf course in Scotland - good. She also signs a petition supporting the release of Roman Polanski - fail.
Does this mean her two signatures cancel each other out, she returns to zero and I can start loving her again?
@ritualtheory: Not as much as Polanski, of course, but still...
I can't wrap my brain around how a woman so seemingly intelligent, evolved and independent could sign the Polanski petition. But then I could say that about the majority of those who signed.
I wonder if Emma Thompson signed the petition about the golf course as well.
Yet another reason to loathe TMZ. I hope this doesn't cause a crackdown on those restaurants that do allow dogs on the patio. P.S. I met Famke and her dog the other day. They were both lovely.
@Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: They're totally right, though. I wouldn't be surprised if her friends and fiances had to wear bows at one point and were placed in her closets.
PETA, I was totally with you and then you had to ruin it at the end. I'm no fan of Paris Hilton, but even I thought that quip about having no friends was out of line.
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: They didn't say she had no friends, they said she treated her friends as disposable. Considering there was/is a TV show to find her "bff," that it's a multi-season show and that it has versions filming all over the world all centered around Paris Hilton and finding her a bff, it seems accurate.
