I remember an interview with a guy in Australia who had reached 105, and they asked him what the secret to his long life was and he said "Giving up drinking...at 99." Ha!
More education, less worry seem like universal tips for a life both long and happy.
Also: "She was 115 years, 220 days old, said Robert Young, a senior consultant for gerontology for Guinness World Records." Hee! My lifelong dream is to have a surname-appropriate job, but as far as I can tell my name comes from the Norse for Serpent Settlement. Shuffling papers and furtively mooching on the internets will do nicely for now I think.
@vagrantstar: My boyfriend's last name is a homophone for "writer". When in college whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be and I said "I would like to be a writer" he would always lean over and whisper "Give it time, you'll get there". Hee.
@KatyLou: Ha, that's cute! My last name is somewhat nonsensical given the structures of English surnames (and is probably an historical mispelling of a name more common), so my friend insists on calling me Son of Eat.
